Hello folks, just arrived in Bangkok a few days ago and am planning to get the train up to Kanchanaburi on Monday but having gone past Pier 11 today, Thonburi station looks like a massive building site from the water! Is it still open? I don't fancy getting up at stupid o'clock to get over there for the 7.35 train only to find the station is closed! Thanks!

the station was moved some hafl a mile up the line. The old station building close down some 5 years ago after a general renovation (and now used in movies), land given to the sirirach hospital for development of new wards. In the meantime, for the last few years, there is a huge night vegetable market.

Couldn't you also get a train to Nakhon Pathom out of Hualamphong and then change trains in NP?
