I understand there is a bus service between Khon Kaen and Pattaya. Does anyone know how often they run, what sort of times they leave Khon Kaen, how long they take and how much they cost.

Thanks in advance

anyone with up to date info? ........I am pretty sure there will be several bus companys that do this route, some direct, some via BKK, probably at least once an hour,.....try to pay a little bit xtra to avoid the over crowded bus companys that stops if they are not full, and put plastic seats in the ailse's......worth it for comfort and safety!

I cannot give you specific details but found some info that might be of help.

There is a direct service from Pattaya to Khoan Kaen and back but other than knowing it runs out of Pattaya from a garage on the Sukhumit at something like 9am and 9pm i have no further details.

Try this link to the KK forum.

http://www.khonkaen.com

There is a bus that runs from Nong Khai via Udon and Khon Kaen to Rayong just south of Pattaya.

I travel on this service from Non Sa-at to Khon Kaen quite regularly and I would say that a journey from Khon Kaen to Pattaya would be a nightmare. The Bus is constantly stopping to pick up new passengers and many end up sitting on plastic stools in the aisle, also the toilet is typical of Thailand (need I say more).

I would recomend you book with Nakhon Chai Air bus from Khon Kaen to Bangkok and then get another bus down to Pattaya.

if you are serious and not too much hindered by what seems the tipical expat style of thinking that about anything is bad in Thailand-then use another forum:

lonelyplanet.com/thorntree-then follow menu

more objective, less prejudice and more to the facts

But dont expect these things to be ''on a website'' if you think that-you dont know how Thailand works. When in KhKn-and I assume you dont come dropping out of the sky there->yopu have some time to ask around-hire any tktk to the AC Busterminal-and use that mouth to ask-there are at least 2 different companies for direct-and they do both daytime and overnight-and daytime a choice of 1st and 2nc cl-most likely the one trying to convince you all buses are bad only used the daytime 2nd cl.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like going via BKK will be the best bet.

As far as I know there is only one company that goes direct from KK to Pattaya

If you are going to go Via Bankgok. NCA Company have a 1st Class bus that is very good. Worth the little extra much better than VIP about 600 Baht. http://primia.net/thaibus/

I drive the KK-Satahip-Rayong road a few times/year, that's road 304 over the mountains towards Kabin Buri and Chonburi.

Lots of aircon buses on that road. Also once I dropped my father-in-law at Udon Thani bus station at 7.50am and at 8 he was on a Rayong bound bus.

Thus I would think lots of buses travel KK-Satahip. Not sure many will pass by Pattaya but you should be able to get off at a nearby place.

Better you check with a KK board through.

Pattaya Klang(central road), and Sukhumvit, Petronous Station(green), "407" is the bus company name and small station/stop there, north bound/west side, early something like 8am bus to KK and a few early evening, reserved seating, 1st or 2nd class, don't recall but okay. Avoid going to BKK, not on the way. Apx 350baht.

Nakhon Chai Air (NCA) has a bus terminal on Pattaya Sukumvit just south of Pattaya klang on the east side of Suk.

They can tell you the schedule of buses to and from Khon Kaen. Good service. My wife looked at the website(Thia only) and she could not see a direct service listed Pattaya-KonKaen,,,only BKK-Khon Kaen. I know there are 3 other bus terminals in Pattaya and at least one goes direct to Khorat so my guess would be they also service KK
