Latest On "over 50 To Live With Child" Visa ?

Featured Replies

I am married to a Thai and 52 years old. We have a 4 year old child. The child is a Thai citizen.

I do not meet the financial requirements for a marrige or retirement visa.

That I should be able to get a visa based only on the fact that I have a 4 year old Thai child seems too good to be true.

Maybe somebody with extreme good luck has been able to pull it off, but it seems unlikely that this sort of visa is issued regularly as a matter of routine.

Please don't missunderstand me, I do hope there is such a visa and I'll be down at immigration next week, to hand in the application, if there is.

The easiest solution: Fly to your home country and apply for a multiple entry 1y non-o.

According to your statement I can't see any chances you will be granted a 1y visa extension at your Immigration office, neither for marriage, retirement nor child.

Immigratin Division cancelled that rule in November '08. I was granted extensions of stay over 50 with child for three years. In December I re-applied and was told the rule had been revoked. Now you must show the 400K to exted

You would either need to show an incoem of 40,000 a month or 400,000 in a Thai bank account in your name. Seems you can't make this and will need to stay on a multiple entry non-O till you can make this requirement.

I think this answers my question. Thank you very much.

I'll continue with extentions based on my job instead.

But I do want to state that if your child is over 20 , the child can take care of you and

no need to show any income coming with that . :o

But for you it still takes another 16 years for that , but better late than never .

I guess that the multiple is the best choice , no need to go to your homecountry fot that .

I would say KL , and show any money on your account to get it 100k will do it I guess .

Just a small trip with asia airlines will do .

Good luck !

Could you please provide the source for that, either in Thai or in English

thanks

Do not have any link for this , but it is a well known fact .

And I do know one female and one male foreigner who both stay on extension

with their kids taking care of them for years ( male is over 80 years old ).

Maybe a moderator can find a detailed document on this one ......

So, I will follow your suggestion and ask the moderators if someone might be a able to assist with this.

Thanks a lot

An English translation of the rules for extension of stay is here. See if you find anything that fits your situation.
