Education Visa For 3 Year Old

Featured Replies

I'm English, my girlfriend is Laos, our daughter is English. At the moment my daughter is on a NON-O as my dependant but with the increasing difficulties to obtain my visa due to this Teacher license thing I'd like to change my daughter's visa to a Non-ED. She'll only be 3 this month but she's starting at a Thai Govt. kindergarten/ primary school in May. Can I change her visa? Can I change it in Thailand? What paperwork will I need? I live in a pretty small town, the school and Ministry of Education will have had no experience in sorting this out. She'll be the first falang that has no claim to Thai nationality to go to the school.

Any info would be appreciated, as my visa runs out on the 31st of March as does my daughters, my wife's tourist visa on the 16th. Suffering from visa headaches, any help?

Can't be much of a help. The rules say simply the following documents must be provided:

1. Application form

2. Copy of applicant’s passport

3. Letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay, issued by the educational institution, which shows detailed information about the applicant’s years of education, level of curriculum, and educational achievement

The school better contact your immigration office to see what is needed in the letter.

Thanks for the advice. I can see a potential problem though. Now the immigration has localized it's offices, my office is Ayuttaya. They don't seem to have a phone. I've tried the number I have but just get that fax noise. I have to go down there in person but it's 100km journey. Should I ask the school to phone BKK instead?

No, that would be Bangkok rules. But you can call the immigration hotline for the right number: 1178 believe they do speak English.
