Condominium Balcony Minimum Height Restrictions

Featured Replies

Could anyone advise the minimum legal height of a balcony in Thailand. I have a condo in Pattaya and young children and wish to install a clear glass barrier of 36 inches. The condo management has advided that it is too high! I have young children and am merely thinking of their safety.

Any help on the law or where I can find it would be gratefully received.

Too high???!!!

How can it ever be too high!!

Install it and to hel_l with the condo management - you are doing it for your kids' safety

Agreed you should have good protection on the balcony. But many Condo's (and this might be in the condo act I forget) have regulations that state you can not change the outside appearance of your unit without the consent of the general meeting of owners.

In other words neither the management nor the committee can legally approve your adding glass.

This is a problem that good management would know how to solve, either offering a suggestion or turning a blind eye.
