At last a response to endless emails, faxes, complaints, got a call from the Embassy this morning apoligiseing for the long delay, they said they were now processing the visa application and to keep checking the tracking for an update, maybe Friday, that would be 14week tommorow if I get a reply, is this the longest wait yet? :)

That is exactly what they said to me on the 29th June I waited the three days from my call on a Monday and they told me to phone the VFS on the Thursday but nothing and now it’s a week later. Did they actually phone you?

I think we can safely say they are just staling for time, as they are just so busy they can’t cope. We can now forget about making any phone calls direct to the switchboard at the embassy. That method was posted on here, it is now widely known how to get through to talk to someone that they have closed the door firmly shut on us. All we can do is wait.

Quick Question on documentation.

We submitted all our paperwork around 6 weeks ago but since then I have renewed the tennancy aggremant on my rented house. Can I update the embassy with the new agreement ? as effectivly the old one is now void and possibly could cause a problem ?

Also with Interviews ? roughly what period into there application are peps asked for a interview for those that have had them ?

dont think you have to update them, as its considered a "Snapshot" of your life at the time you apply that they look at, so if you change jobs or anything or get a wage rise or pay cut, i believe your not even allowed to update them even if its to your advantage./ dis-advantage.

also interviews are things of the past ...

Visas
Lord Avebury asked Her Majesty's Government:

What were the findings of the investigation by UKvisas into the disappearance of files containing sensitive personal information sent to London by diplomatic posts, recommended by the independent monitor for entry clearance in paragraph 62 of her report of March 2007. [HL4522]

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Malloch-Brown): The conclusion of the investigation was that the file packages were incorrectly addressed. All the files in question have been traced and accounted for.

hopefully, fingers crossed you will find out today (friday).

they sent my wife sms first just stated that her passport could be collected at same office she applied (did not say she got visa on sms) then 2 days later on vfs email, it said your application is ready to be collected at same office you applied (again did not state that she got visa) she only found out she got visa as she walked up the stairs at vfs office, vfs officer was calling her to tell her that she could collect visa and passport!!

We didn't use an agency, also no news from us today so it looks like we will hit 17 + weeks now.

Anybody reading this waiting as long as us? can you add to this thread.

we did not use an agency too, take the time following the UK BORDER AGENCY website, time and preparation is the key here, i put in double the amount of information they required. 1years worth of wage slips, 2 years worth of council tax bills, 6 months worth of mortgage statements etc

I tried to phone the embassy again this morning lol what a waste of time. we did use a agency.

This must be doing your head in Andyjoy......13 weeks is unacceptable. It makes me so angry that these people are messing with your life. Unfortunately, it is another example of Thailands failure at dealing with deadlines, a sense of urgency seems alien to the people involved in this process. All i can say is try and stay positive, a little bit cliche but you will go mad otherwise!!

Good luck mate

PS. We did'nt use an agency

A friend of the wifes got her visa yesterday. She applied on the 20th March so thats 15 WEEKS and 6 DAYS. I wrote emails and faxes to both the VFS center and the Embassy on her behalf a week ago. She didn't get a reply from them, but got a text yesterday to collect her passport.

Problem is she's got to go through it all again now to get visas for her children. Apparently when she went to the VFS center on the 20th March she wanted to apply for visas for her children at the same time but was 'advised not to by the VFS staff dealing with her application'. They told her that if her application was refused then her childrens would automatically be refused as well so she could be wasting her money. They 'suggested' to her that she would be better waiting to see if her visa was granted first then apply for her childrens visas after. She took their advice not knowing she would be sitting in Bangkok waiting for her own visa for four months.

Just to add we didn't know about her application when she applied, my wife met her because her son and our daughter were in the same class at school and were both talking about going to the UK.

Hi all.

I applied for my wifes visa on the 12th may 09. Nothing back yet. Then again it has only been 8 and a half weeks. I say only. i mean compared to everyone else.

Thank you all for taking the time to write this forum. I was really worried and stressed till I found this. You all have helped more than you will ever know. I thought being in the navy I would be used to being apart from my wife but this is different. The longest i have been apart is about 6 months, but then that was work. This whole visa thing has made me realise i hate the government and no longer want to work for them. I am going away for 7 months in November, so i want to spend as much time with my wife as possible. Obviously I cant even do that due to visa. Plus I get no help what-so-ever from the navy. You would think so. Well i did.0

Anyway i will stop moaning on. Just wanted say something cause I got a rubbish reply from the embassy.

We applied for a settlement visa on March 23rd. Today we heard we have been successful. I feel for everyone out there because I know what it's like. The stress starts to kick in and as the weeks go by, you start to wonder if they have lost your application or they are lining you up for a refusal. The last 24 hours is agonising. For what it's worth, I emailed the VFS on June 10th saying I was concerned and offering any assistance. I got a reply saying the application was with the embassy.

I faxed both embassy numbers (given on this thread) on Wednesday night, and again on Thursday morning in case the previous fax hadn't got through. I pointed out how long we had been waiting, and again asked them to contact me if I could be of assistance with their inquiry.

Late Thursday my wife got the sms. Today she opened the envelopes and found we had approval for herself and her daughter. I have no idea if the embassy reacted to the fax, or if it was just a co-incidence.

This forum has been of real assistance to me, but it's also bitter sweet. When people who apply after your date get approval, you can't help wonder what's wrong with your own case. It adds to the worry. But hopefully my case proves there is no connection between a long wait and rejection.

Best wishes to those who are contesting rejection, to those facing the long wait, and especially to Chewy and his partner.

DEAN999, Welcome to thai visa. as you have read most settlement visas results/ outcomes are taken much longer than we probably all thought, I personally was, told in late march 09 that application outcomes were taking from 4 to 6 weeks but in the end waited 12 weeks. Through personal experience be patient is the name of the game (but is bloody hard and stressful, especially if you are away from your partner abroad or in your case possibly at sea). If and when you get the the chance just keep tracking the application through the application APET number, and keep in touch as much as possible with your wife to re-assure her and explain things clearly. You can try like many here have tried and call VFS/ and or embassy but with little luck in actually speaking to someone. Good luck my friend and to all others who are still waiting.
