Underbelly Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 The other night i had a few drinks with a few mates in Khao san rd and drove home. I only had 3 beers in about 2 or 3 hours and would have been inder the legal limit in Australia (thats where im from). I have only been here a short while and only have a international licence. What is the legal limit here and whats the penalty if you do get caught over the limit? Is the legal limit different for international licence holders? Is it easy to get off the fine with a donation?

Common penalty is Community Service. Of course if officer Somchai, stops you on a routine stop check, or if you have committed a minor traffic offence, then a purple or brown persuader is the order of the day
harrry Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Real penalty can be death,,,your's or someone else.
Moonrakers Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Real penalty can be death,,,your's or someone else. ^^ What he said. I also think that there should be a higher penalty imposed for "pre-meditaded" drink driving.
JimmyConway Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 A wise man would think wherever he was in the world the drink drive limit is no drink at all. Have you any idea what would happen if you plowed into a Thai family whilst drunk? You would be beaten senseless possibly to death, get a taxi mate their cheap as chips.
dave111223 Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 50mg alcohol per 100ml of blood. Any idea what that translates into beerwise? I know this would obviously vary a lot depending on the size of the person. But for arguments sake let's let a 80Kg man drinking small Heineken bottles of beer.
Cuban Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Similar thread with more responses running in the motor forum, which is probably the best place for this thread too.
