Pre-book A Taxi Form Bangkok To Airport

Recommended Posts

Hello, all.

I will be needing a bigger Taxi to go from the Victory Monument to BKK Airport, like a station-wagon or similar.

I have a flat-packed rack of about 150cm x 60cm so a normal taxi is not enough.

I wonder, is there a phone-number to call the for pre-booking from the Taxi-Meter company?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I are you staying in an hotel? Expalin to them but insist you want a meter taxi. They will find one for you.

Even better, once you have explained to them, ask them to come with you outside the hotel and get them to speak to one of the "meter taxi" drivers, I'm sure they will find one for you.

Best leave for airport early morning to avoid the traffic and even paying the toll!!!

Hope you enjoyed your stay!!

Woof! This one can be tough. For years this has been a problem of mine and I haven't had the luck of Staniraj. But I am a farang and phoot thai mai dai...

I travel with a lot, can never make an airport run in a standard sized taxi and always have this problem. Asking the staff to track you down an oversized (one in a hundred+) taxi, is so hit or miss that you'd have to have them start flagging taxi's at an indeterminate time before you wanted to leave to complete this mission. You really have to get the name of a reputable taxi company and follow-up with the name of the manager or supervising dispatch. And start early, calling the day before is smart, if a bit futile at times, because even then, unless you have a relationship with the taxi company when the driver shows up, he's off talking about a flat rate with that sad sour look we all know. The big taxis will almost always try to charge you a flat rate and are notorious for it. TIT.

You have to be careful for this one... Bags were packed, in a bit of a rush and we drove off and in traffic when I realized the meter wasn't on; he let me know he was only flat rate, regardless of his conversation with the concierge and didn't know anything about instructions from the dispatcher. Did I mention I don't speak Thai - and I've found that many times even if they speak a bit of English they tend to avoid discussion when the complexities of situations are not in their favor. Needless to say neither one of us was happy. In the end, having a cell phone and a company contact, is the only way to deal with things when they go bad. I haven't had much luck with concierge even in nice hotels or serviced apartments.

If I didn't care about getting ripped off in a place where most of the people are genuine and kind and don't deserve the crap they get from tourists jaded by tourist hawks, I guess the flat rate wouldn't bother me. But then again, you can't forget to Western tip the decent ones...

Good Luck-

Thanks for replying. This looks promising..

I am going 530AM, so I am no going to try my luck by hoping one big taxi will happen to pass by..

And I don't mind of a flat rate, depending on the rate, of course..

I always agree on the price to the airport anyway, to save the hassel and arguing for both me and the driver at 530 in the morning.

At my hotel they say thy can order one for me for 1000 Baht, but that seems a little bit tooooo much, even for a farang price.

But those Meter-Taxis have radio, which means there has to be a way to call someone so the taxi-company can make use of their radios!

Just I can't find any number..

Did you try walking outside with a pen and paper, and writing down the Phone numbers of the 3 or 4 different taxi companies driving past where you are staying?

I'm sure they are plastered all over the taxis, to save you the trouble of going on the internet, to find this out.

That was my first thought also.

I may be blind, but all numbers on the different taxis I saw was mobile-phones, so i did not think that was company numbers.

I took 3 Taxis today, no one new the number for pre-booking..

1,000 baht is about right for a quality private taxi to take you to the airport. By quality I mean a new mid size - large comfy car with polite & safe driver who arrives early to make sure you get where you have to be on time. Not so bad since the same in NYC runs about double that.

Rather than calling a company, what about flagging one down a day or two ahead and making arrangements directly with the driver? Then you'll see what the size of the cargo area is and know who's driving. And you can set a price. Probably 400 to 450 baht total. Get a couple cards or numbers and pick the one you with the best deal.
