Is A Visa Run To Myanmar Possible?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I will be entering Thailand from Malaysia by land and will get the 15 day visa stay in Thailand....my plan is to make my way(slowly) up Thailand. Does anyone know if it possible to cross into Myanmar between Phuket and Bangkok to get another 15 days?

Is it possible to buy a 180 day mulitple entry Thai visa? It seems like such an inconvenience to have to run to a border every 15 days.....

Thank you for any advice!

1. I'd say that the Myanmar (Burma) idea is a nonstarter. Myanmar tends to be a closed country to outsiders.

2. Get a double-entry Tourist Visa before entering Thailand, good for a total stay of 180 days, 60+30 / 60+30, with one (1) border crossing.

Moved to Thailand Visas.

Yes. Get a Double Entry Tourist Visa while in the USA.

60 Days each entry. Each entry can be extended for 30 days at Thai Immigration.

Tourist Visas are free until June 4th.

Yes, but for me and many it would be the very very last place to do a visa run. :o:D:D

Between Phuket and Bangkok you could stop off in Ranong, take a boat to Kawthoung and back in one day, or spend a night in Kawthoung, and get a 2nd 15 days that way relatively easily.

FYI, many people down Hua Hin way, and points south, do their border runs at Ranong over to Victoria Point: http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Thailand/So...blog-48440.html

However, I quite agree, get a Thai tourist visa ahead of time, Penang or in KL.

I certainly would not recommend the Ranog - Myanmar (Burma) trip to any of my friends. Don't know anybody that adventurous, and certainly not for another measly 15 day entry into Thailand. There are a lot easier ways to stay in Thailand.

Is that the one where you have yo get a long tail boat to the tiny little island?

When I was travelling I did a leave and re-enter there if it is. It was kind of fun.

[EDIT: To add- yea, I've just checked the link- it *was a bit of an adventure but it was fun too- As I remember you can go to a town. We didn't as we'd been up in Mae Sai or somewhere previously, and the official got really snotty with us about not wanting to visit his country. He thrust our passports back with a curt 'Then go back to Thailand'.

LOL happy days.

There are 2 ways to do ther Ranong border run.

1. Do it yourself from ther main pier in the town on a chartered longtail boat

2. Get to the Andaman Club pier (north of town) and do it in a large ferry. Costs more, but a lot safer

When doing No 1, never ever take any drugs back with you to Thailand as reports have it, the Burmese sellers tip off the Thai cops who are waiting for you, dangling handcuffs if you don't open your extremely fat wallet.
