Have sex with lots of 18-25 year old women :D I like to tell people that having lived in LOS a decade I have aged 10 years, but the women I have sex with haven't aged a day :o

Are you an old guy shagging these girls? That's gross.

Either war its gross, living here just to take advantage of their women. Doesn't sound like you've matured ten years since you've been here.

BTW - to keep busy in Thailand, search for clubs on the internet. There are marshal arts clubs, sports clubs, tennis clubs, drama clubs, academic clubs, paragliding clubs, motorbike clubs, car clubs, off road clubs, flying clubs, juggling clubs, all sorts of clubs, u just need to find them.

Failing that, studying is a good time user :-)

Blame God, he made us this way (obsessed with sex). :D

Fun in the LOS; my live here may not be fun but it is enjoyable and i do not seem to have time to finish my daily schedule.

I am so very lucky in that i have a truly wonderful wife, i am lucky in that I worked in the States at a very good job and retired at 65 so i can afford to play over here.

I wake when i want usually around 8-9 coffee and a breakfast of 2 fried duck eggs on toast with a slice of ham.

if i have work to do, which usually consists of telling my wife what i want some one to do, build something, fix something, plant something i am constantly redoing my landscape and in the process of planning a large Koi pond.

once it starts to get too warm its to my office to play my fantasy football or fantasy basketball. I really do not like April to Sept no sports for me,

Checking email, calling friends in the States-certain times I can call certain people takes a couple of hours.

We have a housekeeper which makes my wife happier,

I have written one book for my grand children.

I am writing another book do not expect to sell it just for family and friend

I started a project of finding all my high school class mates and i have been in personal contact with all but three of my high school graduating class. A real feel good project.

Around 4 pm i start my dinner project, I really have always enjoyed cooking and have made some dam_n good meals here, I am also working on a cook book.

After dinner its TV time and i have a very good collection of war movies if nothing good is on UBC. I also buy movies from Pan-tip and Korat so I watch all the current hit movies.

Bed time is when i become tired.

Our trips to Big C, Macro, Twickets or the night market are in the afternoon, with lunch in Buriram

I started a trip one day a week so we get up and hit the road once a week for something different, Korat Mall shopping, looking for more cement things for my garden or just sight seeing.

every three months its a 90 day notice run with a day in Surin or other exciting place.

every 90 days it a trip to BKK for my eye check up, two nights in a hotel with shopping in the big malls and Pan tip with too many great meals.

Twice a year its off to Pattaya to just chill and relax in the pool for two nights.

These trips are all the better because my wife drives and i just sleep.

So my life here is good, the very best part is I can do what I want when I want.

It would have been great to have been here 30-40 years ago i would have loved to have all these women available but i would not have been able to afford it.

If u can afford to enjoy life here it will not be boring!

I agree with the previous poster at least before the crash devastated my portfolio. When I get bored in BKK I like to head to the beach or Chiang Mai (Rai) Even Bang Sean for a day trip works. BKK is a good base for this.

I do get bored here at times but used to get bored in the USA sometimes too. I also "cycle" : a massive drunk cycle followed by a sobering up/quitting cycle and then repeat so this keeps me from think too much.

What would you do in the USA when you got bored? Chances are that there are more things to do here although I miss winter hiking in the Maine woods and there is nothing like that here.

What Do You Guys Do For Fun In Thailand?

i throw small stones at little old ladies passing by.

Can I help??

Up at 5.30 to look after a daily financial interest which i cant mention but it opens in oz at 10 and finishes at 4. (12 here)

Downstairs to the Gym and laps of pool, saunas or steam bath.

Decide which of the million Thai style restaurants usually hole in the wall I should dine at.

Read the paper in the foyer of my condo and chat up The Thai Airlines Japanese hosties ( they put them up at My Condo)

have a 2 hour massage

Go for a few beers 3 times a week.

Go to Koh Samet once a month and hire a motorbike and zoom around the island

stay at pattaya once a month for a few days usually around cozy beach area.

Actuaully I think we take it all for granted. Lets face it bit of dream lifestyle compared to what you would be doing in your hometown

Spend a good amount of time dodging lady boys. Im a lady boy magnet

Never been bored in the 4 years here, come to think of it I have never in my life been bored. Plenty to do here even without booze and birds.

There is so much of the country to see, did 3 months travelling around Issan and still didnt see nearly all of it, been down south and to several of the islands. Love the Thai markets and can wander arould a big one all day, so much to see.

Trying to learn the language, a walk and run in the morning and ride on the bike in the evening.

Then there is this computer thing, look at several sites like this, trying to write some short stories and best of all plan what you will do tomorrow, next week, next month, year.

Boredom is all in the mind.

But other than that, every one I know (whose activities are not confined to the the tourist type) lives effectively the same way they would in their home country.

Thats what I do - there's nothing I can't do here that I would do back home.

This is a question for the guys out there that live permanantly in Thailand and don't need to work to suport themselves. I can understand being a family man can keep you busy but what about you single guys?

I've spend various amounts of time in Thailand, never for longer than 3 months after which I can get very bored.

Besides drinking and chasing girls, what do you guys do to stop yourselves from going crazy? Thailand can't all be about sex can it?

Or can it? :o

What do you do in your home country in order to prevent you from going crazy?

I think a lot of people go mad here because it is just same same but different unless you have the cash to get out and about. Limited cash limits your enjoyment and I agree, just going out all the time is mind bogglingly boring.

If you have sufficient cash, then you have SE Asia as well.

boring in thailand? never, never, never!

i fill up my weekly and monthly plans with WHAT ARE SOME OF THE REMAINING MOST IMPORTANT THINGS LEFT IN MY LIFE THAT I WANT TO DO.... i never feel bored at all ever since i personalize my goals and objectives.

work up your personal goals and objectives, whatever they may be. then, set your sight and fixate on it, until you are there.

the processes to your own personalized utopia should set you on fire and levitate you everyday.... so to speak.

i agree, coming to thailand, malaysia, singapore, indonesia or china and having alot of free time wandering around the country could be boring or exciting, depending on a person's own agenda and objectives.

workup a set of your own personal life objectives and travel as fast or as slow as you wish toward your own objectives achieving one objective at a time or several at a time--however you wish; or doing absolutely nothing at all! come to

think of it, that would be really boring.... lol

whatever that will make you happy!

I work, but I still have plenty of time for fun. Just got back from a night of drunkenness. Smashed drunk and viisted all the bars in Pattaya. Drinking is about all there is to do here. heehee. :o

I exercise almost every day and work every day of the year. I just don't see that as an unhealthy lifestyle. Rheumatoid Arthritis is hereditory and as far as doctors know, it is not anyone's fault.

I'm sorry to hear about your rheumatoid Ulysses, I hope I didn't offend you with my comments.

I am moving permanently to Thailand with my Thai family soon and I am interested in how others keep themselves busy.

My gallavanting days are over so that rules out the bars and nightlife. I am the kind of guy that needs to keep busy otherwise I go cabin crazy quickly.

But I know myself. If I settle into a static lifestyle I would put on heaps of weight very quikly, I would turn into a lazy fat slob. :D

Hey Livin, don't need to be in los to be a fat slob, I am already one and I haven't even moved there yet!! :o

Admitedly, I do lose a lot of weight whilst in los! But never over here!

Must be the weather!! :D

Please explain to me why shagging 18-25 year old Thai girls is gross. I don't care what your age is, it's a hel_l of a lot of fun, besides, it keeps you young. You only get this crap from someone in their 20's or 30's...This is Thailand, not Phoenix, Arizona... :o

I find more to do here upcountry than I can find to do in my home country. Let's turn it around. What do you do in your home country to avoid being bored?

I'm of the opinion that if you are bored here, you will be bored wherever you are.

I agree with you Gary, it's all a state of mind... keep your mind busy, you won't get bored... :o

Well I am retired, married with no children and I am never bored. I think you need a hobby or 2 to keep one busy. I play golf twice a week, volunteer community service as the post service officer at the Korat VFW post and help out widows of veterans get pensions and help disabled vets get benefits. I also have a classic car I tinker on as I use to restore classic cars in the States.

Tell me what you do that is so exciting in the West, that is for free, and you can´t do here?

I think i most cases, it´s your own expectations of Thailand that is your biggest enemy.

All depends on your wants and needs. Sex, in contravention to some of the blowhards here, does indeed fade, and we eventually look for true intimacy. Do you really want to grow old with an endless stream of mercenary bargirls who will take care of you only with the meter running?

Personally, I met a professional (albeit through the internet) and found a true life partner. I casually study Buddhism, pay attention to my diet, and have a close relationship with a woman whom could be my spiritual twin. I can't tell you the extreme degree of comfort, the laughter, and the new learning we share - every minute of the day.

Every minute of the day.....

Go slow, and learn to get to know real Thai citizens, not in the bar areas, but in the daily workaday lifestyle.

Investigate voluntering with your local elemetary or high school (subject to legal limitations), or even arrange a work visa for part-time English lessons. Get into the community. Learn about Thailand. Know more than the Thais about their own place (not hard sometimes). Devote a few hours a week to making your new home a better place.

Investigate civic groups (but avoid any of them that have a coloured golf shirt).

Guide tourists around your local (historical) temple for a few hours every week.

The path is before you - you merely need to look with fresh eyes. Find yourself, and you will find Thailand.

Golf, tennis and the jim...beg your pardon...I mean the gym.

:o

Seriously, if you started playing golf you might get bitten by the golf bug (as so many do) and you could spend hours every day doing something you loved and keeping fit at the same time.

I spend my time making money online. I'd get seriously bored if I was retired and did nothing here. Probably drink all day, which is what a lot of these fat old guys do.

Here is one way to deal with your question. This is copied from my blog.

Slow Down ...

In the wise words of those timeless prophets and deep thinkers, Simon and Garfunkel :o

"Slow down, you move too fast

You've got to make the morning last

Just kickin' down the cobble stones

Looking for fun and feelin' groovy!"

Apparently there is an entire movement out there, dedicated to slowing things down. Complete with all kinds of new-age words and terminology, that thankfully I missed out on by living in Thailand. One would think that slowing down, would not be a problem living in a rice field. One first arrives, however, suffering the effects of over stimulation from life in the big city. A place where any petty predilection, piffling penchant, piddling proclivity, and profligate perversion, is presented on the proverbial platter for a paltry pittance, any period, any purpose, any place. No questions asked.

Once in the village, and in the goodness of time, the world begins to reveal itself, step by step, sensation by sensation. It is the big things that get your attention at first. Sunrises and sunsets. Full moons and star filled, moonless skies. Storms, with there sounds of thunder, raging winds, raindrops on the roof and water dripping from the eves. Colors seem more vibrant. Green presents with infinite variety, in the fields and forest. Sky blue, takes on a whole new meaning and clouds appear lifelike.

Familiar sounds of the city are superseded by subtler sounds of dogs, chickens, cows and pigs, of birds, bugs, frogs and streams, of wind through the leaves, and footsteps in the forest. The air is filled with sights and smells. The industrious sparrow, the mischievous mynas, the swifts acrobatically skimming the surface of the pond and darting over the rice stalks. Water birds, more heard than seen, occasionally exploding in frightened flight from their hiding place in the fields. The elegant and majestic birds of prey, patrolling their domain. Swarms of dragonflies, mesmerize with their chaotic dance and sheer numbers. The flicker of the firefly at night, brings forth an inner glow from long forgotten childhood memories.

Walks through the fields and forest are permeated with the aromas of nature. The smell of rice, flowering plants, trees and grasses. The musky odor of rotting fruit and decaying vegetation on the forest floor and the pungent bouquet of animals and what they leave behind. One hears the sounds from without and the sounds from within. One hears and feels each footstep, each breath, each beat of the heart. The sun on your back the wind in your face, sweat dripping from your brow and saturating your clothes.

Before long you are as one with all that is around you. Forgotten is the world of schedules, deadlines, office politics, keeping up with the Joneses. The rush of the city is replaced with the serenity of the natural world. Yet, somehow the world does not seem slow or dull. By filtering out the static of city living, life builds to a natural crescendo and somehow feels fuller and richer than what came before. So by all means, slow down and watch the world around you grow and feel your life enriched.
