Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anybody please advise me? I am coming to Thailand in June, initially on visa on entry for 1 month. However, I want to extend this to around 8 weeks. What are my options other than having to leave the country and re-enter?

I heard you have to go to immigration in Bangkok. Is this a simple process?

Any advice appreciated.

Paul.

A Tourist Visa entry is for 60 days. This can be extended at Immigration for a further 30 days . 1,900 Baht Fee

Apply for your Tourist Visa before 4th June and the Visa will be free.

If you are planning on coming without a Visa you may not be alowed on the flight.

Visa on arrival is 15 days - not 30. You seem to be talking about a 30 day visa exempt stamp which requires outbound ticket within those 30 days (which it seems you will not have). Obtain a tourist visa valid for a 60 day stay before you travel. They are free until June 4th. If you need to extend that you get 30 days for 1,900 baht at Immigration.

Ok, thanks for your replies. I will clarify a little. I work in Oman and thought that when you arrive by an airport you get 30 days as a tourist. I will have a return flight to Muscat already booked as it will be my summer break, but wanted to stay in Thailand longer than 30 days. Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks

30 days is a visa exempt entry and requires onward travel before the 30 days are up - it is not likely to be questioned by Immigration but often is by airlines.

Is your return flight booked for less than 30 days?

At any rate you can not extend more than 7 days and land border crossings only provide 15 days now.

Yes, My flight will be booked as a return to Muscat within 30 days. So, I guess my only option is to do a border run for an extra 15 days and then change my return flight? I had heard a rumour that if you went to immigration, you can get a tourist visa to take me over 30 days.

Thanks

No. You can only get Tourist Visas from Consulates outside Thailand.

Yes. You will only get 15 days if entering at a land border. But there is no limit on how many times you can do this.
