Simbo
I have had a retirement visa for several years. I have been married for 4 years and we have a 3 year old daughter. until the recent drop in the uk pounds value,it never occured to me that I may only need 400k,till someone told me thats all was needed. Can anyone comfirm this,as my renewal is due shortly. Thanks in advance. Simbo
Lite Beer
This is the rule. (6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year. lopburi3
For retirement you need 800k married or single. If you want to change to wife extension of stay she will have to apply with you and a bunch of new paperwork will be required. You would then require 400k in bank account in your name only. Thanks for that, but what I really want to know. is a retirement visa acceptable if married and is 400k acceptable or doI have to change visas to a married one for them to accept the lower rate. Lite Beer
Yes. Next time you apply for the extension (not a Visa ) based on being married to a Thai National. Not retirement.

Other than having 800,000 tied up in a bank for a period, retirement can be an easier option than marriage extension.
