Maxnet Loses Settings

Featured Replies

I have Maxnet Premier and for the most part I am happy with it; however there is one annoyance. Any time I go out of town and shut off the modem, it loses the username and password in WAN settings and I have to enter manually. There must be some way to keep them stored permanently. I tried contacting customer service but they could not understand what I was saying...

Not really a Maxnet problem but a problem with your modem/router.

Some brands require you to save settings. if you don't do this it'll lose them every time you reboot.

For example with the d-link 504, (which I use) you have to go to "tools", choose "system commands" and then click on "save all".

As routers are flash based, losing power should not affect them if everything is saved properly.

Most newer models actually do the saving when you click on "apply" after you changed some settings, but not all do....

Or in short: Repair your router or get a new one.

Its not a matter of "repairing' its a matter of saving....

No different than if you open a word document and start typing... as long as you don't close word all your work is their, the minute you close word or shut of the computer the work is gone... The way to get around this problem is to SAVE, not REPAIR...

if it's the black modem, this is a known trouble.
