April 20, 200917 yr I will be on a return flight to LOS and are allowed 40kgs. (not Thai Airways) Booked a domestic business ticket on Thai Airways to continue last leg of trip, that should allow me 30kgs. How strict are they at Swampy check in? Any one know what the surcharge is per kg? Might limit my luggage weight depending on replies here. Could move some kgs to hand luggage before check in also, hmmm Thanks for any thoughts. April 20, 200917 yr If it is a connecting flight, just book your luggage all the way through to the final destination and you won't have any problems when changing planes in Thailand.
April 20, 200917 yr Author Flying Etihad, don't think I can book luggage all the way. Rather think I need to collect luggage at Swampy and check in again at Thai Airways. (go through customs also at Swampy) I will ask the question at Etihad desk flying out this week however. Edited April 20, 200917 yr by tartempion
April 22, 200917 yr Qatar certainly do check hold-luggage all the way through to CNX, when I'm flying home, from the UK. Very useful ! I would imagine this also applies to HKT and possibly HDY ? I've also flown CNX-BKK with 34 kgs of hold-luggage, on an economy-ticket, with no problems from Thai at check-in, once they had checked that I had the frequent-flyer card (and hence extra luggage-allowance) for my onward-flights out on Qatar. I would also expect Thai to be more-forgiving to a business-class passenger, it's part of the justification, for the higher-priced ticket. My local travel-agent says, as long as you have the allowance (on your ticket or via frequent-flyer) on the international-sector(s) of your journey, Thai won't be a problem to be overweight on the connecting domestic-sector.
