smx1313
Hi, I've been listing to lots of Thai music lately and have a few questions. Can anybody tell me what "sah la wun" means? It's the title of an orrawee song. Also what does Loog Thung mean? Thanks
stonybonytony
Loog thung/Luk Thung ลูกทุ่ง literally means 'child of the fields', music that comes originally from the rural areas (Isan mainly?). Often about a young person who has to go to the city to find work and misses their boy/girlfriend back home.
stonybonytony
I've not heard the word Sah la wun สาละวัน before, but my dictionary says it means "Laos". Is the full title of the song Sah la wun song sarn jai สาละวันสงสารใจ? I think this is "feel sympathy/pity for Laos"
stonybonytony
Ah, I think Sa lah wun might be Saravane, the Southernmost province of Laos?
