Wellington
The hibiscus bush on our terrace has been home to a pair of nesting Bulbuls for the last month and ten days ago they hatched two chicks today they are hungry for their breakfast and doing well. We are keeping an eye out for marauding Mina Birds who would like them for a snack, no doubt. I like the anxious first chick who is actually standing! Sir Burr
I would think they are Yellow Vented Bulbuls which are very common on Phuket. Do the parents look like this? Edited April 27, 2009 by Sir Burr
Royale
I'd worry more about the parents being caught by the Thai's who seem to love to catch Bulbuls and keep them in cages, pictures like this will become more rare if something is not done about this craze. They're beautiful, so sad to see the parents being kept like this.
Sir Burr
Your Yellow Vented Bulbuls (if that is what they are) are quite safe from the Thais. They are not valued for their song as it's rather harsh. The bird royale is talking about is the Red Whiskered Bulbul which is valued for it's song (see picture below). Although it is present in Phuket, supposedly, I have never seen one. Most of the birds you see in cages have been bred in captivity.

Yes, that's the one, beautiful bird.always together and up close if possible . The many around us sing well and are only surpassed by The Magpie Robin. Caging is cruel But TIT there are worse animal abuses in China Edited April 27, 2009 by Wellington

Wellington
Got the same in my garden.... It seems The Bulbul only lays two eggs probably because the nest is very small? Nice to know so many are hatching, hope yours survive
