I was just wondering if I should bring an xbox 360 to Thailand or buy one there. I find the prices for an xbox360 are significantly higher (in TH) than in the US. Although I am nervous that a Us360 in Thailand would require too much maintenance(i.e. voltage adapter, chip to play Asia format games and so on). Is there even xboxlive in Thailand??(I know its might sound dumb but it is a legitimate concern, I need my xboxlive!!). Does anybody with similiar experience have any advice?Does anybody have any good video game connection that cant get a xbox(in TH) for cheap??

xbox360 can't be modded to play other regions games, only those who are region free will work on all machines and they're not so much.

better buy a 220V unit already in here if you plan to play with the backups they sold in the usual places.

I brought mine over from the states. Worked fine until I started having RRoD probs. I bought a 220w-110w step-down converter, but you'd prolly be better off with a 220w compatable ps. xboxLive worked no prob for me (there's no localized service) and should work as long as your IP/ISP isn't blocked by M$.

One problem I had was downloading demos from Live. Although I could get on live and play games, Live does know where your 360 is connecting from, and therefore blocked access to d/l demos becuase they're released for US customers (assuming your Live service was registered in the US). One way around this is to use a proxy.

I didn't have mine chipped (you CAN get it done here), but do so at your own risk.

So the problems you began having were due to the eletric conversion?? How did you get on xbox live anyhow? Did you hook it up through a wireless router or straight from a modem? and when you are on live is it a Thai connection or are you still playing with Yanks & Brits?? The reason I ask is because the last time I used my family's and my wife's family's internet connection it was ridiculously f*cking slow! 2min youtube videos took like 10 minutes to download. So you are saying basically. I could bring my 360 from the US and simply need a electricy converter and nothing else? What if you were to have a problem(for instance 3 rings of death). You airmail it back to microsoft no problem??

No, my RRoD issues were not due to electical probs, mine was an older model that was prone to those. Unfortunatly for me they started up just 1 month after my warranty expired... thx M$...

My apartment (I was in Pattaya at the time) had an internet connection (shared DSL I assume) which I connected a wifi router (Linksys WRT54GS) that I bought in Tuk Com(sp?). Internet was a$tastically slow at times, especially at night. Best times to play online (or do anything online really) was in the mornings, before 10am.

Your "Thai connection" question doesn't really make sense... When you connect to Live your connecting to the login/authentication servers in Redmond, WA. After that, depending on the game, your 'paired up' with other players that you have a good connection to. It could be Thai's, Brits, or anyone really. I didn't really pay much attention to whom I was playing with (aside from friends), just as long as they were on the hurt side of whatever I was swinging/shooting/aiming at. :)

Yup!

You probably could. In Big C complex (can't remember the actual name, but its not the south one) there's a UPS shipping 'kiosk'. Make sure you box it up before taking it there, and be extra sure to insure it!
