Honaray Thai Counselates In The Usa

Featured Replies

I thought I could email the thai counselate here in Florida, but no email address was on any of the links I could find. I called them, and all I could reach was a voice mail. I left a message with my name and phone numer and said I wanted some information on if they do Tourist visas in advance as others have told me they can do. It seemed to be a law office of some kind according to their recorded message.

So, has anybody used one of these Thai couselates inside the USA? What do they do? What are they supposed to do?

Thanks.

They issue visas and some other services such as notary. Many are part of a law office.

Use the pull down menu near the top of this webpage on the DC embassy website to get a list of honorary consulates.

Yes, I know the location and the phone number. They just never seem to answer the phone or retunr my phone calls. Doesn't seem like they are interested in being helpful. Based on their lack of response, I know I would not mail anything to them such as my passport in advance to get a visa. I might drive there if they do things in one day, but I doubt they do that. I will try a few more phone calls to them.

I've used a couple of them, both were prompt, courteous, and efficient. Neither was in Florida but the last one got my one year visa with no sweat. You should keep looking.

I have used the Hon Cons in Miami (Coral Gables) several times. If you go in the morning they will process and return you passport in the same day. $25.00 fee. Since TV's are free until June 4 I would hustle on over there and get it done in one day. Single entry valid for 90 days, double valid for 180 days. Your mileage may vary. It is in fact just a desk in a law office and the lady in charge is Hispanic, does not speak a word of Thai, and her name is Nana(Oh the irony)

The Honorary Consulate in Honolulu was always very, very helpful and fast when dealing with them in person or by telephone; however, but attempted communications via email resulted in no responses (and I have no doubt they were receiving my emails). This is where I got my Retirement O-A Visa and over the years my Thai wife used them for several Thai citizen related issues. Very good consulate (except for responding to emails).

The Honolulu Consulate is great. I have received single/multiple tourist visas and education visas there in 30 minutes. They usually open 30 minutes later than posted. Just go there 1 hr after the listed opening time, they will issue the visas before lunch time, while you are chatting with the consul or his wife. There are only two of them there and both of them are over retirement age. Be polite, respectful and you get your visa within an hour.

Really? Same day? Thanks for the feedback. Since I live about two hours north of Miami, it looks like a drive to this consulate in Miami could work for me. And I agree that the name "Nana" is a bit ironic.

Thanks again. I really appreciate that.

Drive there and see, like you said. Often these consulates are just one person and don't have time to answer phone calls as their duties as an honorary consulate may in fact be secondary to what they do.
