Motorist smashes up car in dispute with Toyota

BANGKOK: -- The owner of a Toyota pick-up truck today smashed up his vehicle after claiming that the car company had refused to exchange or buy back the truck despite acknowledging its faulty manufacture.

In a gesture of pure revenge, Capt. Naraset Runpraphan took his Hilux Tiger 4X4 truck to the Office of the Consumer Protection Board before taking out his anger on it.

Capt. Naraset claimed that the vehicle had been virtually undriveable, with a host of problems ranging from poor centring of the wheels to an uneven roof and loud noises.

Although Toyota changed components on three separate occasions, this was not enough to appease Capt. Naraset, who took the case to the Office of the Consumer Protection Board and threatened to burn the vehicle unless Toyota was prepared to exchange it for a new one, or buy it back for Bt1.5 million.

But Mr. Chumporn Petcharachumchon, senior head of Toyota's customer services division, said today that the company was unable to meet Capt. Naraset's request, as the vehicle had already been in use for two years.

The most the company was prepared to shell out, he said, was Bt800,000.

He also pointed out that Capt. Naraset had asked if he could exchange the truck for a model with higher specifications.

The truck filled with a ton of som tam and a wrecking ball dropped from above would've been more graphic.

I think maybe Capt. Naraset Runpraphan mai cing cai :o

Motorist smashes up car in dispute with Toyota....

This is very strange - just last week a woman smashed up her Honda Civic outside a Honda showroom because she was unhappy with it and they gave her her money back. It was on Thai TV last week - all the big nobs from Honda were being interviewed about it.

Perhaps this Toyota owner thought he could do the same and get his money back too! Som nam naa! :o

My 4 year old Toyota Camry, has got a dent in the driver's door, also I had to change the socks a while ago, I think I'll smash it in front of some reporters and maybe Toyota will give me a new one!!!

My 1967 Hilux keeps running out of fuel.

I have complained on many occasions but Toyota refuse to put matters right. They have only offered me a new replacement but I want a Harrier.

I am going to drive it thru the showroom window.

Today some other monkey decided to set fire to his Nissan in Rayong, maybe he wants it replacing for a S600!!!!
