6 Month Tourist Visa?

Featured Replies

I'm British UK

30 years old.

Hi, can someone explain what i need to do, to backpack around thailand for 6 months. I've searched but everything ive found is for 3 months and i'm having a hard time understanding visa runs.

I get a tourist visa for 60 days then get 30 day extension for 2000baht.

That gets me 3 months, i want 3 more.

Does a visa run give me 15 days? or renew my visa? so if i have 60 day visa and make visa run i get another 60 days?

if i have 2 month visa + 30 day extension and i make a visa run do i get 15 days extra, another 30 days extension or is my 60 day visa renewed and i can stay 2 months longer

ty for advice

A tourist visa gives you 60 days per entry that can be extended at immigration here for 30 days which costs 1900 baht..

You can get a tourist visa with 2 entries that would give you about 6 months. If you got a 3 entry you could get almost 9 months. When you cross the border and re-turn using the next entry you get 60 days until you have used all the entries or the visa expires.

A border crossing will only give 15 days on entry if by air you get 30 days if you don't have a valid visa.

Thank you, i didn't realise i was supposed to choose multiple entry visa.  it all sounds so simple now  :)

You don't choose multiple entry. You write in the number of entries you want and then multiply the cost per etnry by that number to get the total amount of the fee.

Yes. 1,2 or 3 entry. Suggest you deal with the Thai Consulate in Hull rather than the Embassy in London. You will find them much more helpful and friendly. Apply by post. http://www.thaiconsul.co.uk/
