OK. So, if one were going over to attend one of the TEFL classes, that typically run 4-6 weeks, and should probably plan for 60 days for some slack time, what would one do? I guess the 60 day Tourist visa foots the bill.

The LA Consulate is notoriously unfriendly. Honorary Thai Consulates such as Houston are much more helpful.

If you enrolled at a school and had all the supporting documents you could apply for a ED visa.

A tourist vsia would be ok also. You could get a 2 entry that would give you almost 6 months with 30 day extensions.

Even for a tourist visa one of the honorary consulates would be the best choice. The 3 official consulates and the embassy are not always helpfull.

For a list of consulates use the pulldown menu at the top of this webpage. http://www.thaiembdc.org/AboutEmb/EmbDirect.aspx
