hello!

I've found this forum through the google search and I would like to say thank you, I already found a lot of useful information on this forum. However, I still have an unanswered question and I would really appreaciate if someone could give me some ideas ... thanks!

I live in Australia, but my mother lives in Turkmenistan (she holds the passport of Turkmenistan).

She is going to visit me by flying from Turkmenistan to Bangkok using Turkmenistan Airlines and then she will be using some other flight (don't know which one yet) to fly from Bangkok to Sydney. Then, in 3 months staying in Australia, she will return to Turkmenistan using the same route. As I know she doesn't need a transit visa if she will not be leaving the airport and if the time between flights (is this something called connection time ?) won't be longer than 12 hours. And now my question is: what will happen if she will fly without transit visa and I will organise the connection time to be less than 12 hours, and if the flight will delay by some reason and she will need to stay at the airport for longer than 12 hours - what to do with the visa ? She can't speak English and I afraid she might be completely confused....what usually people do in such situations? Should she apply for thai transit visa anyway even if everything will be ok and she will stay in Bangkok for less than 12 hours ?

thank you very much for your help !!!

with best regards,

Mihail

As long as her flight arrangements are such that she can remain in the transit area she will not need a transit visa.

If she was to stay over 12 hours because of a flight delay she would not have a problem.
