Are There Visa Options For A Dissabled Person?

Featured Replies

I know a British couple who are here on Retirement visas. They have a son who is in his early 30's who is physically dissabled, he is confined to a wheelchair. He also has what is commonly referred to as "brittle bone disorder". At the moment he is in Thailand on a Multi entry non 'o', however it is becoming very difficult for him to travel when it comes to his boarder runs. On his last boarder run he suffered 3 bone fractures in his back. He is considering applying to the Walen school of Thai and thus applying for an ED visa so that he will not have to leave the country every 90 days. Due to his situation, is there any other visa option he can look at that does not require him to leave the counrty every 90 days?

Thank you in advance for any advice receieved.

Because of his age there is not really much he can do. All I can find is this.

2.25 In the case of medical

treatment or convalescence or to look after a patient:

Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 days at a time.

(1) Confirmation and request has been made by a physician

responsible for the treatment. The Physician must describe the details of treatment and advised that the illness is a barrier for travelling.

As you say there is always the learning Thai option.

This from the Immigration Website saying the same.

Sorry to hear about your son's problems. aGetting around in THailand in a wheelchair is difficul0t but the people can make up for it. Remember if he has an ed visa he must be attending too. This may not be the answer.

Actually it is his friend's Son. Agree with your sentiments though.

These are the Extension Rules from the Thai Police. See if there is anything that fits.
