I am looking at tickets to go back to the UK for a visit and the difference in price is amazing.

To go from BKK to London return is around 80% more expensive than going London BKK rtn.

Why? Anyone any clue?

Book on line with a UK travel agent and it's usually cheaper than booking in with a travel agent in Thailand.

I believe it's impossible to book a flight through a UK travel agent if your departure point isn't the UK. I'll appologise if I'm wrong.

Apology accepted :)

When I first moved to Thailand I came on a single ticket so when I go back I buy a return ticket, from Bangkok to the UK and back.

I've lived in Thailand for over three years now but have had to go back to the UK annually.

I've booked our tickets this way every time.

All UK travel agents will allow the outward journey from Bangkok but not all have the facility on their web pages for you to book it on line.

With some agents you have to phone them to do it.

I usually book on line with either http://www.expedia.co.uk/default.aspx?eapid=737-3,%20737-3 or http://www.airlinewarehouse.co.uk/

Everything is done on line, payed for in GBP with a debit/credit card and I'm issued with 'E' tickets, the conformation reference for which is

emailed to me and I print that off, although I have never been asked to show it.

It's ideal for somebody like me who lives here but is payed in GBP into a UK bank. I can just pay on line and don't have to worry about

the exchange rates or transfering the money to Thailand first.

And as I said in my first post I've always got a better price as well doing it this way.

Seeing some really nice flights LHR/BKK on Emirates...

Use http://www.expedia.co.uk to book.

Roundtrip, 1st class, LHR/BKK, 1644 pounds. That's the new A380, so you have a shower in your 1st class suite!

Example booking date (because it's not available every date): Jul 29 - Aug 13

Reverse direction, BKK/LHR, is sadly more (3955 pounds), as people have noted in this topic...

Wow, in the US, they screw Americans, but in the UK, they screw the tourists... we Americans are doing it all wrong!

Economy BKK/LHR is 686 pounds, LHR/BKK is the same.
