Canadian Man Want To Marry Thai Girl

Featured Replies

I am a men from canada and i want to marry a thai girl , i want to know all the requirement to all the paper from both thai and canadian gouvernement

also what do you think about sin-sot do you pay it and if yes what ammount you think is fair......

and what about monay and gold? what is your experience ....girl is from buriram....and our relation is over 2 year now.....

First you will need to get an affirmation of permit to marry from your embassy.

Contact info: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/thail...e.aspx?lang=eng

That document then has to be translated to Thai and then certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A good translation service can do both for you.

Next you go to a Amphoe (district office) and register you marriage.

You can also have a traditional ceremoney with the family before or after the registration.

do i have to provide any proof of income?

You do not need to prove income for the marriage registration..

I did an edit while you were posting and included contact info for the embassy. If you have been married before you will need proof that you are divorced.

It may vary by Embassy, and my memory is weak, but I believe the US paper may have asked something about income and 2 personal references along with general bio/passport data.

Canada Marriage in Thailand

The forms for the US and UK both have a line in the affirmation for income but neither ask for proof of that income because you are signing a statement. They both have a line for 2 references.

I suspect Canada will be the same. But there is no info about it or even a sample form on their website.

I am a Canadian who married a Thai in Thailand.

What UbonJoe said is correct.

Ubonjoe is spot on.... I just got married (Im Australian) to my beautiful Thai lady in April and each step explained is exactly what i had to do to have it registered & legally recognised in my country. Chaawk Dee my friend & many years of wedded bliss :)

The Sin Dod does vary. That is something you will have to work out with your bride to be and her family.

In some cases it is returned after the ceremoney for the couple to use.

It would be very hard to give you a number. In my case it was 10 $100 bills that were given to grandma. That was eventually used to buy a heard fo buffaloes for the family. I would guess that we have had returned a few times in the form of a lot of free labor and other kinds of help over the years.

Sinsot is just for show - basically let the village know you have dosh. It should be given back to you, if anyone tells you differently they are way off mark and you are being used.
