Hi,

I'm just about to submit my fiancee's Australian Spouse Visa application here in Bangkok. She's from Myanmar and we've been living here for over a year, and before that Myanmar for another year. We've got heaps of photos, rent receipts, emails and some quality stat decs.

I've just got a couple of questions regarding exactly what we need in terms of forms and statements:

1) We need a police clearance from Bangkok. What does my gf need to do (as a foreigner) to apply for one, and how much does it cost?

2) Where is the cheapest place to get certified copies of documents, or can the Visa Application Center at the Thai CC copy documents for us (certifying them in the process)?

3) (A bit of a curly one here...) We have applied for the police clearance in Myanmar, but it's a bit slow, requiring bribes and extra payments for those not born in Yangon. We've sent some money back to her family, but we might not get the docs for a while. My question is - can she write a stat dec saying that, from her time in Myanmar, she's never committed a crime? Will that suffice?

4) Ditto in regards to her birth certificate. She does have one, but it's been difficult locating it since we cannot find her mother and family who were left homeless after Cyclone Nargis. She has her passport, a document which required both the police clearance and BC when we first applied for them 2 years ago. If we cannot get these documents, will there be a problem (or any major delays) if we just use her passport and a stat dec?

Dealing with anything Myanmar-related is never straightforward, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. :)
