For non-immigrant visas, how long does the recipient have to enter the country? For example, country X issues a 60 day visa and the traveler has 90 days to activate it by entering country X. How does Thailand work? I was recently informed by an honorary consulate that the clock starts ticking the day the consulate issues the visa. Meaning, for a 1-yr visa, if I wait 2 months to go to Thailand after receiving the visa, I now only have 10 months remaining. This doesn't sound right to me, but wanted to consult the forum.

Thank you.

The clock starts ticking on the date of issue. Every day early you get a visa is a day lost on the time you could be in the country if it is a visa with more than one entry.

That is why we always tell people not to get their visas to early. It normally only takes 2 or 3 days to get a visa.
