Zambian Held In Major Cocaine Bust At Bkk Airport

Featured Replies

One has to wonder why these folks keep doing the same old, over and over again?!

They simply never learn. As I said previously - there is no discipline anywhere, anymore.

Maybe he was out to beat the hapless SA perp.

Police and customs officials arrested a Zambian national for possession of more than one kilogramme of cocaine worth three million baht at Suvarnabhumi airport on Sunday. Identified as Mabvuto Francis Ngoma, he was arrested while attempting to board a flight to Chiang Mai. Officials acted on an investigation report that there would be drugs smuggled from Bangladesh. One hundred and thirty bars of a suspicious substance were found in a secret pocket of his luggage. A test showed that it was cocaine and he was charged with possessing illegal drugs for sale, according to Somchai Poolsavasdi, deputy director general of the Customs Department. The authorities estimated that 1.15 kilogrammes of cocaine can net three million baht in Thai street sales. The customs department has seized 11.95 kilogrammes of illegal drugs in 10 incidents so far this year at Suvarnabhumi. (TNA)

link?

They do everything for money, simple. He had maybe a chance to change his life, but for a risk.

Fool ....... thats a capital offence amount isn't it(?) - though more than likely he'd plead guilty and get +/-30yrs in Bang Kwang (not much better than death - bad enough visiting ex-pats there, never mind having to stay - its an awful place)

He can consider himself lucky - if he'd been stopped in Singapore there would be no life sentance option - the punishment would be death - end of subject (and theres no shortage of Africans waiting for the hangman at Changi) ..... simply isn't worth the risk carrying narcotics through Asian airports.

While he ws being arrested some one else was boarding a plane with 10 times that amount, "acting on an investigation report that there would be drugs smuggled from Bangladesh"

They give one up to let more through, oldest trick in the book. (learned that from the discovery chanel by the way)

why going to Chiang Mai with 3 kg of cocaine ?

Drugs like this come mainly in thailand from Burma to Chiang Mai no ?
