June 30, 200917 yr Did a visa run today to the Aranyapratet-Poipet crossing. Cambodian officials were checking the temperature of people coming, obviously for flu/fever like symptoms. Great, except they were checking with one of those probes that they stick in your ear. You've probably all had one used on you, doctor takes a sterile fitting/probe, puts it on the device, checks your temp. then removes the fitting and will obviously use a newly sterilised one for the next patient. Only problem in Cambo. today is that they were using the same probe for all people entering, cambos, thais, falang etc. Great way of spreading ear infections I thought, and I am far from being a hypochondriac, but I thought that was pretty disgusting, and washed my ear real quick. Coming back into Thailand they used a tem. gun which didn't require contact with the skin, it was held about an inch away.

What would they do if you did have a high temperature? I gather they would double check by then inserting it your anus. The next poor s*d in line would then have a genuine grievance if they put it in his ear!! TBWG
July 1, 200917 yr Ugh. Just be thankful they weren't using a rectal thermometer. ....bend for a friend
July 2, 200917 yr They did use one on the forhead with me. If you have hight temp you may be in trouble. You already left Thailand and can not enter Cambodia. You may have to pay two times tea money, as the Thais are measuring temp too.
