Sam Van Treeck, suspected of killing his former girlfriend, Chompoonut Jeab Koyramin in Pattaya in 2004 and fleeing Thailand, shortly after freed on bail, was apprehended by Belgian police last Monday.

Being interrogated since the beginning of June, detectives claim they have enough leads to justify the arrest. The interrogations started after a judicial commission was send to Pattaya earlier this year to attend a murder reconstruction.

Wow :):D

Exactly my thoughts!

He wanted to renew the relation with his former girlfriend. She supposedly refused and was found in his room, stabbed 48 times. He was jailed but got bailed out and left the country. It cost him several million in bribes which he tried to repay partly through a benefit concert in his native Antwerp.

He've always claimed he was innocent and framed by the Thai police.

In the meantime, has a new girlfriend and a baby.

According to the families of the deceased and her Canadian fiance, there was 'tons of hard evidence' and they now hope justice will be done at last.

I don't know anything about this case but found out that most links are old, from 2004 and in Flemish/Dutch.

This link is from Belgium and in Flemish/Dutch but with photos:

Van Treeck arrested for murder on Thai girlfriend

The former (travel) guide Sam van Treeck (29) is in prison suspected of the murder on the Thai (woman) Chompoonut Jeab Koyram (23). The diving teacher was found in the summer of 2004 with 48 stabwounds in the apartment of Van Treeck in Pattaya (Jomtien. LP), Thailand.

After paying a bail sum of Euro 75.000 (Baht 3.581,983) he was allowed to leave prison (in Thailand 2004) and fled back to Antwerp/Belgium. Earlier this week he was caught again and brought to an investigating magistrate (Belgian justice system). The "Chamber of Justice" (a Belgian/Dutch jurisdictional expression) intended to decide today if he (Van Treeck) was to be hold in custody further, but his Lawyer is asking for a delay. Van Treeck insists that he is innocent.
