thepotisblack
Hi guys unfortunately my 6 month old dog dropped down dead. looked like he had been poisonned. but im not sure. so I took it to a vet in Pattaya who has sent it to Bangkok for a postmortem. they said would be 3000 Baht. so that I can find out what it was that killed the dog. has anyone else ever had any experience with this? I was thinking that it could have been a snake bite? my Thai wife says that 3000 baht sounds expensive.
neverdie
Well, I guess 1000 to 1500 baht to get the specialist vet in bkk to do the post mortem wouldnt be considered unreasonable. Then they had to get the body to bkk from Pattaya & ur vet wants to make a few baht for arranging the whole deal. 3000 baht will give you the answers to the questions you will never be able to answer unless you get this done. Texpat
I wouldn't trust the results of a Thai necropsy. You're as likely to be told what they think you'd prefer to hear as the actual results -- assuming they even open the dog.

BigSnake
Sorry about the loss of your Dog, on the other hope you didn't allow it to roam the neighborhood like some of my neighbors, because as we all no a dog will go/do his/her business almost anywhere and some people might just get feed up and indeed poison it, has happen a few times in my area, indeed feel sad for the pet, but wish I could educate the owner to keep control of their pets. 3000 baht would be worth it to be sure. jaapfries
Hi guys unfortunately my 6 month old dog dropped down dead. looked like he had been poisonned. but im not sure. so I took it to a vet in Pattaya who has sent it to Bangkok for a postmortem. they said would be 3000 Baht. so that I can find out what it was that killed the dog. has anyone else ever had any experience with this?I was thinking that it could have been a snake bite? my Thai wife says that 3000 baht sounds expensive. A "Post-Mortem" you don't need, in my opinion; Iwould simply get my vet to take some blood from the poor deceased K9 and send that to the lab. Withing a ouple of days, you will be ale to know what killed your dog (if it was pisen by humans, or poison by snakes). If it was neither; then your dog may have died from natural causes, or something like 'heart-worm'. The cost of this may be Bt. 500~ Bt. 750.- This is what we would do. Sorryabout the loss of your dog. Cheers, JGK/Pattaya
