Wait till Sunday: UDD supporters show copies of the ‘‘Voice of Taksin’’ biweekly magazine, which will be launched on July 26 to mark the 60th birthday of Thaksin Shinawatra, who has promised his supporters a ‘‘Big Surprise!’’

Bangkok Post / 2009-07-24

===========================================================

Unsurprising that he goes with the not usually used English transliteration of his Thaksin name but opts for the less commonly accepted Taksin. He prefers that as it is associated with King Taksin.

awaiting for his comparing himself to JFK... and self-proclaiming to be Man of the Year (same as Time magazine famously does annually)

Democracy is to let people watch any tv station they like, listen to any community radio they need and read any magazine they want.

Up to them to decide whom to believe and vote for.

Public airwaves are for the benefit of all, and not just one political side.

The only requirement, besides stay in your bandwidth and power alotment,

is TRUTH and not fiction masquerading as truth be in the show.

Fiction is fine for soap operas and entertainments,

but public television needs to represent reality, not wishful thinking.

Or as a tool to obscure the opposition point of view

Democracy requires that ALL points of view get a valid and relatively equal airing

to ALL THE PUBLIC areas and regions, not just the ones politically expedient for one side.

How very quaint. If Molotov cocktails don't work, why not try a magazine?

Quaint are the wealth of Thaksin/UDD styled websites that usually can't be accessed with a proxy....so why not a periodical that will have a shelf-life of about two issues?

I'm looking forward to the travelogue section of the magazine and eagerly anticipate reports from such exotic and highly desirable locations such as El Salvador, Botswana, and the Ivory Coast.

Good luck with attempting to aquire those warm and fuzzy ideals here.

zaaa I agree, even if it IS the truth.

But if those calling for 'Democracy' do so with a half baked idea of how it works,

and the end goal, then they go along spreading disinformation endlessly.

The reality is Democracy was never served in Issan by the Thaksin political machine.

because it is made up of most of the same people keeping the people down for so long,

just with a little more cash thrown around and an over laying patina of democracy.

And while silencing ALL voices with alternate opinions.

If the people are not allowed to hear ALL sides of the story,

then they are voting blind, and that is NOT democracy.

Western style democratic reform has never gone over well in Asia. Just the way it is. Why is it that most Farang-types insist to have such a political philosophy pushed upon these ancient populations. Neutrally speaking, what if they don't consider our 'developed' civilisation that developed, therfore not finding it worthy to lend from? What if they don't fashion Farang ways terribly redeeming? What if they're right.....?? :)

The question is, Who is going to read it???

Haven't seen many Thais reading a book, not even, a magazine!!!!!

May be it's better like that, or it can be used for hygenic purpoces in the toilet??

My wife would read it if it had a baby or cooking page in it.

Apparently not content with the magazine only, the square-headed one has now proudly proclaimed the audible version for the "Voice of Thaksin" is going global...

The former Prime Minister Thaksin...

also stated that he planned to launch a radio station, using the name “Thaksin Light Radio", to air globally on 1st September, with DJs broadcasting to each community in every province.

Well is it going to globally or within Thailand? Can I notify the potential audience in the UK, North America and Australia to tune in?

To a lot of Thaksin supporters Thailand is global. :)

Well total psychosis verse just hubris, greed, and general amorality.

Manson is on another plane evil wise.

As much as Thaksin scares me for him to be back in power,

I don't see him breaking into homes with a crew

and leaving forks sticking from womens bellies.

Nor tattooing swastikas on his forehead.

But doesn't make Thaksin a good person to be in control of a mob or a country.

They both have a way of convincing people they are some sort of

divinely sent entity, here for their benefit. Manipulative and charismatic

to some eyes and ears, yet lacking basic compunction and moral compasses.

He's no Manson, but he's not a good choice either.

And now, a magazine for Thaksin

Sutham said the red shirts and general public could acquire shares in the company that published the magazine at 1,000 Baht per share.

Too expensive for toilet paper :)

Wow, You Farangs get all worked up about a pro-Thaksin initiative. But I understand that it takes time to turn around the brainwashing that has been the product of three years plus, of anti-Thaksin demonization program in the only media you can read. Fortunately the Thai electorate have shown they are more astute, and that is all that matters. Brain-washed Farangs can blow-viate all they want, and I enjoy interacting with them via these posts. I am surprised however by their susceptibility to anti-democracy politics, considering the democratic traditions they have grown up with. By the way, this magazine was conceived and is being published by "friends of Thaksin", and is not an initiative of his. Publishers know the huge readership involved and it is good business.

very well stated but wrongly addressed. You shouldn't generalize because not all farangs share the same opinion.
