rixalex
Anyone managed to develop a taste for them? Seems like the last thing anyone would want to do to a nut is make it all wet and soggy!
Farma
Are you talking about the boiled peanuts for sale? I like them in limited amounts. Too salty for me now. They're also sold in Aussie green grocers and I remember eating them as a kid.

Samuian
why not, because westerners only know them roasted? As corn, red and black beans are considered "sweet"... as a snack why not?
rixalex
why not, because westerners only know them roasted? Yep, to my Western mind, the only thing a nut is good for is roasting! Boiling?! I think not! Just as beef isn't meant for boiling, but these crazy people do that here too!
mmcsusnret
In many of the US southern states, boiled peanuts are very popular especially the ones with cajun spices. They will light you up!!

Deke
I've acquired a taste for them myself. There's a guy selling them near my office and I buy 20 Baht worth every few days. Better than snacking on all that sweet stuff.

Cuban
Many Western 'roasted' peanuts are infact deep fried then bagged with salt and sold. Personally I like them freshly roasted in shell over a BBQ fire using an old wok part filled with plain sand, hot crispy and no salt.

I developed a taste for them about 30 years ago in London. I really think there are much stranger things to worry about. Frogs and snails, <deleted>! I thought only French people ate them ... except winkles, of course, which are lovely, but I haven't found any here. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough.
