As the heading indicated I have misplaced my Motorcycles GB. (very silly I know)

Along to the local Police station declare lost no probs report made copy given cost 100baht (actually it was 20 but i donated the 80 change to keep in good stead).

Over to land transport department explained my predicament to a very nice young lady checked my passport dates etc no probs off to the supervisor who printed out the registration information - showing my name and address which were also on the police paper, electricity bill and some other receipt i had taken along.

Seems all was going fine until the young lady then asked for my tabien ban I explained as a farang I did not have one but my addreess was on the paper she had just extracted from the Land Transports computing system and also in the blue book for my car ( which i had kept as a back up). She was very nice I was nice but she said I need the proof of residence - I acknowled this but explained that seeing as how they did not accept copies my last two originals had been submitted when the book for car (here) and book for bike (lost) were submitted to be changed into my name and address.

Yes she said thats good but I still need proof that this address on this paper from our computing system is where you live.

I smiled and said I would return tomorrow (no good arguing or getting upset) Amazing Thailand

Moral of the story don't be a "moron" and lose either your blue or green book otherwise be prepareed to go through the hoops.

I sold my motorcycle a while ago &, as I don't have a tabian baan, I had to do this before the buyer could register it:

1. Get my landlord to go to the police station with me.

2. Get the police to stamp and witness a copy of my landlord's tabian baan, our rental agreement, and a note from the police themselves verifying that I do indeed live where I live.

You probably need to do something along those lines to satisfy the Land Transport people.

Good luck! :)

I've been putting off jumping thru these hoops myself as I lost my green book several months ago. Now my registration is overdue so I have to buck up and get it done. My understanding is I have to get the police report that i lost the book, then go to immigration to get the proof of residence certificate.

I know thais are able to take loans out in exchange for the green book. We'll see if any loan shark would give a loan without seeing the bike itself and there could be a lien against the it when I go to get a new green book?

you will need a residence certificate from immigration to replace a lost book
