Sex and drugs keep Pattaya police busy

By John Le Fevre

PATTAYA (thaivisa.com): -- Police in Pattaya had a busy weekend, raiding two go-go bars and arresting a Thai-British national on class 1 drug dealing charges.

The raids on the go-go bars was led by Police Major Apichanan from Pattaya police station, with four male employees from the Holiday 2 Boy Bar in Soi Sunee Plaza arrested after failing urine tests and charged with class 1 drug consumption offenses.

A short while later the police, acting on a tip-off that that explicit shows were being performed and underage dancers working at the We are Number 1 go-go bar in Jomtien, raided the premises and detained two employees under the age of 18, along with the 48-year-old manager, Khun Wanchart.

On Sunday an undercover operation in Soi Neun Plub Wan resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-oldThai-British national named Samber on charges of possessing more than 70gm (about 2.47oz) of Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, crystal, or simply meth.

According to police, Samber had arranged to meet an undercover police operative in Jomtien, but changed the location to Soi Neun Plub Wan at the last minute.

When apprehended Samber was found to have one bag of a substance that later tested positive for Crystal Methamphetamine weighing 47.8gm (about 1.69oz), while a search of his house found another bag weighing 22.6gm (0.80oz) hidden in a wardrobe.

Samber said the drugs had been supplied by a dealer in Bangkok, who would ordinarily charge him Bt130,000 (about $US3,825) for a 500gm (about 17.64oz) bag.

He said he would then on-sell the drug in Pattaya for Bt3,500 (about $US103) for a three gram (about 0.1oz) bag, making a net profit of about Bt453,333 (about $US13,347) from the sales.

The two staff from Holiday 2 Boy Bar along with Samber will face court on class 1 drug offence charges, while the manager of the We are Number 1 go-go bar has been charged with employing underage staff and for organizing sexually explicit shows.

Pattaya police have also forwarded details of both raids to the the Banglamung District Licensing Unit who may take further action against the bars and alter or revoke their business licenses.

When it is legal police "bonuses" go down too. Why do you think brothels were legalized in NSW, Australia?

Ahh, I wouldnt worry about that, theres still plenty of money being made in 'bonuses' out of those establishments :)

Pattaya IS about sex and drugs, that`s why people go there.

Why fight it?

Legalize it! Someone who want´s to have sex and take drugs do it anyway.

And when it is legal less kids will take it because it`s not that interesting anymore because it´s legal.

Simple.

No, not Simple. Back to your hemp embassy and its smokey atmosphere :)

Legalizing drugs would cause chaos. Can you imagine the advertisements and the BTS lcd monitor??

Hi kids, it's YABA-MAN~~ in 3 new fruit flavors. Also don't forget to cut out "HEROINE points" on the back of the box for your free needle kit! Lord have mercy :)

Because he is an idiot!

In Europe you even get a less sentence for telling them (Germany its called "Paragraph 31" )...but i imagine the judge in thailand giving him more sentence just because of his story !!!

He could tell them like "I´m so addicted to meth,i took 2-3 g each day, i couldnt afford it anymore so i had to sell that stuff to finance my own addiction" ( Or some like that )

Selling to finance your own addiction and just selling for profit is very different, i know from my own expierence.

But the very very best you can do , is JUST TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT sometimes.

Tell them just what you need to tell, e.g. your adress, birthdate, occupation.

"More i don´t know and more i have not to say. I don`t know the laws exactly and everything i say could be used against me in Court.

My lawner knows the laws, he gets paid for it."

(Of course you bought it from a black male in front of the train station :) )

Take a page from the ladies in Pattaya and try the:

"But officer, it's the first time, I've never done it before."

Or maybe Somban was trying to recruit a new dealer. I believe his absence from the streets of Pattaya will soon be filled.

I am not a math scholar but does 3 grams equal = 0.1 oz?????? :)

Something fishy here !

When I saw the figure I was thinking it do not match somewhere!

*Today in Bangkok post, police arrest someone with 2 kilo of ‘ice’ (meth) with a street value of 6 million baht.

That is the correct street price 3000 a gram

In the topic they mention the Samber bought it for Bt130,000 (about $US3,825) for a 500gm bag, and sell it for 3500 for nearly 3 grams !

I think it is not possible.

I think he paid much more for it, and sell it for much more, perhaps a low baht ammount figure will attract a lower sentence.

Well there are about 28 grams to the ounce. If we call it 30 grams to the ounce then 3 grams would be about a tenth of an ounce and there you go.

Regardless, I'm concerned that the BIB are overtaxed and working too hard, two raids in one night and on highly covert targets at that - phew, I'm exhausted just thinking about the effort involved.

Hello, this makes a good headline so people think the BIB are doing something. We all know this is a small operator that needs to be turned so they can get the big fish. Another loser will take the place of the small time slime, and this will not make a difference in the big picture. Cheers.

IDIOT your imagination and fears about getting high is the only reason children try drugs in the first place. After hearing from people like you they look at it like sex. Something only adults are supposed to do so it must be fun sound familiar? All they have to do is get high one time to see that people against it have no idea what the hel_l they're talking about and figure that they only tell them about addiction as a scare tactic. So if your predictions were correct then where are the shots of whiskey in three fruity flavors and cigarette points marketed to the kiddies? You’re only repeating ignorant propaganda from the 1930s about alcohol. If your visions of the evil drugs users trying to turn children to the dark side for their video game and soda pop money are correct then why aren’t “the children” hiding liquor and cigarettes in there lunch boxes. Why are there not gangs of violent adolescence making huge profits by selling and pushing booze to minors above market value? Stop with the,” your protecting the children through prohibition crap.” You think all this money created by the drug “trade” is produced from change out of the pockets of children? If the current excepted theology of drug prohibition is correct than we should outlaw all religion because all extremist and terrorist kill over religious beliefs. Imprison everyone for pre and extra marital sex to control HIV. If all you freaks were as passionate about pedophilia and white slavery as you were about chasing drug users around in circles like Benny Hill, the world would be a much better place.

I will agree with you on one thing though. Legalizing drugs is absolutely ridicules. Does a vagina have to be legalized before I can have sex? Does caffeine have to be legalized before I can drink a cup of coffee? What should be, "illegal" and appropriate for a democratic government to ban is for a conglomerate to distribute, package, market, or sell anything people consume for recreational proposes but for no reason is ever proscribed by a physician. Thus I could not by cigarettes but I could grow my own or buy from a local farmer or vendor without the dialectics, ammoniums, and nicoteen doping. I could not buy alcohol in a store but I could make my own wine or go to a pub that made there own beer and wiskey. Drugs packaged in measured amounts as if for distrobution, Ok jail. Posession and consumption for personal use, None of your god dam business anyway. Interest in drugs would be as novelty and values would plummet putting all this money from corporations and mafia to local farmers and communities. All of the money that is made Illegally today would not go to countries where it was easier to produce in mass quantities but would be spent in the places they were being consumed. Yes a meth lab might pop up in the woods but the guy making it would not be selling across state lines or making such massive amounts. Because of a flodded market. So he could be easier to identify and arrested for other things as if someone were harmed by something he made. A much better starting point than we have today for reaching some resolve on both sides of the fence. Oh, but then it would be up to everyone to teach thier own children about drugs and their fault if they became addics. Darwin have mercy.

This is a very simple reason. Is when "criminals" are apprehended by police, the police man with the best creative writing abilities writes out their confession for them and then they beat them until they sign it.

thats about it.

Legalization and decriminalization are 2 very different things, and have been tested in various places. So instead of just saying that won't work or this won't work because your limited life experiences tells you this, why not take a squiz around the internet, Google's a good start, Google these words your throwing around without really understanding, and creating baseless opinions and thinking you know because your 25 or 50 (I don't care), then after you have done some research, come back, participate. It's easy and helps people avoid looking like morons. Try it today, your half way there.
