BTW, would you trust a premier who tripled his personal wealth, starting from 700Mio USD, within three years?

Why not?

Fact: Khun Thaksin was rich before he became PM. He managed well, Thailand developed, foreigners trusted Thailand and invested, the stock price went up automatically and he earned from that.

He is not the kind of PM who only opens meetings to say "How much can we borrow for this period of time?"

Fact is, Thaksin is a CONVICTED CRIMINAL and nothing else. And his followers are impressed by his big mouth and the cash he accumulated. I would be impressed by a person of high morality, and not by somebody who skips bail, and has a list of charges, wether they can be found right or wrong. I would rather follow somebody who has a clear stance towards democracy and acts as honourable man.

But, as I mentioned before (read my Post #141). I do not want a similar situation in Thailand, but it looks like, that we have a lot of wooden-headed folks even here in this forum, who never read a history book or can just admit that facts are unalterable, or a unable to get involved in a vital and critical dispute, by denying a professional answer to the questions asked.

FYI - The author of this article, John Le Fevre, is a well known red shirt sympathiser. Previously known on here as Photojourn.

Facts quoted in the OP to be taken with as much salt as a recent Bangkok Post poll.

/edit - attach best image I can find:

Then you clearly haven't read enough of what I've written. :D :D

Yeah, I had problems getting past the one titled "Thailand Prime Minister dead man walking as Asean leaders flee Pattaya"....

What next? Suthep Swims With The Fishes For Taking Leave...?

Which was pretty similar to what everyone else in the world wrote after Pattaya. But hey, if you think he was at his pinnacle then who am I to disagree with such a dyed in the wool government supporter.

Now I'm waiting to see the host of a G8 summit run away and leave the remaining seven behind because it's so good for their career prospects.

:)

It wasn't his finest hour, nor was it the reds. However the "dead man walking" (you did write that, for real) recovered well in the eyes of many Thai observers a few hours later.

The one person who could quiet the tensions building between the Reds and Yellows:

Mr. T himself.

If he had the ability to lessen his craving for power and riches and revenge, he could make an announcement along the following lines:

"Dear people of Thailand, in the interest of trying to bring harmony back to Thailand and its people, I hereby fully commit to dropping out of politics. I know you have heard me promise that several times in the recent past, and I have never adhered to it, but this time I genuinely promise to stay out of politics. I hereby bequeath 50% of my wealth to the Thai people. I place it in escrow at Bank of Thailand with the understanding that it will be payable in 20 years, by whichever government happens to be in power at that time, whether I'm still among the living or not.

I will heretefore not attempt to influence any members of UDD, DAAD or Puey Thai or former TRT members. I will cease my phone-ins to rallies. People of Thailand, please learn the ways of real democracy, and work to find leaders who are moral, decent and wise.

I will now go to retire in (Nicaragua, Adriatic, Ghana, Dubai, Samoa, fill in the blanks...) and this time I will really, jing jing stay completely out of Thailand's affairs."

Is today some sort of big push for the Reds postings?

Are they having a special extra bonus pay today? :)

What's the going price?

I have no idea, but you said earlier that you made 100,000 baht a month...

For only 10 hours work a week too!

Is PAD so peaceful?

P7681079-29.jpg

Here is a fun game:

- Count how many times the same situation (moron guard shooting outside the taxi center at Vipavade after a caravan was attacked by some taxi drivers) is pictured.

Really impressive 'collection' when one situation of, iirc, 2 guards doing a stupid thing and then painting it onto everyone wearing a color. And from what I know, no-one was even hit by the bullets. So the morons was poor marksmen too...and yet, this is one of the most featured picture-series from the Red. Impressive.

All it took was a ping-pong bomb to do this. It was okay that the reds brought these type of bombs to greet the PM in Pattaya?

I don't often read your posts so I don't know if you're red or yellow.

The reds don't have ping-pong bombs.

When the reds went inside the resort in Pattaya, they showed a ping-pong bomb they took from outside as proof and asked why the blues were set up to attack them when they came there empty handed. Police checked the reds along the way and found no weapon.

Do you think the PAD was so peaceful? In those days they blocked airports, the situation was so stressful that in this forum, quotes from Not The Nation were not allowed to post.

One reason the reds are trying so hard to re-write history here is

because they have looked so bad for so long they HAVE to attempt a

historical white-wash and hope some forget.

Yes that is what they are trying to do. Do not let them get away with it.

So long?

I think the reds only were born after the coup 2549.

It would only be believable if engraved on his tomb stone.

And Khunying Porntip verified he was under it.

You can slow down a bit Koo. This isn't a Bangkok Post poll.

Clearly after this weekends rally the acolytes have been sent out to

Spread the word of the Lord Thaksin's coming.

Dispute and harangue the heathen masses

of disbelieving farhang running dog lackeys of the

White Bleached Flour English forked tounge press.

Beat the heathens idol's into plowshares and

pellet them with ping pong bomb storylets

plow their non-Thaksin unlordly veracity into obscurity.

Though as I walk through the valley of Yellow

I fear not their truth, because my loins are girded

and mind's reddened and readied with our masters

divine incantations and inverted bowl droppings.

Yea verilly I am one with my Thaksin

I am one with the reddened truth

I am marching to a new life as pure and guileless

as a lamb to slaughter, not hearing the sounds

of those trammled afore me. I fear not, I have a

blinding reddened love of all things Shinolawatra

and I marcheth onward to their scared tune.

Moola Moola Moola need more moola moola moola

Yingluck to you all!

Abhisit is the countries best bet for that future.

Are you joking?

Abhisit didn't even win an election.

7 months have passed. What has he done?

He is handsome, comes from good hiso family, had good education, speaks nicely but that is all about him. He doesn't dare to upset PAD, Newin, coalition parties and army because these people support him. What has he done to control the flu, to keep peace in the South, to keep fruit price not to drop like now, to keep rubber price up, to speed up manufacturing, to keep oil price down when the world oil price is down, and to create more jobs for people?

What business has he run successfully to show he can bring Thailand out of this economic crisis? I think politics is his only career and all he can do is to borrow money.

A business/corporation and a government are inherently two different beasts. One is for profit and the other is for public governance. Businesses/corporations are privately owned and operated enterprises whose purpose is to satisfy market demand, earn a profit and satisfy shareholders. Government includes the national defense, money supply, foreign policy, establishing tax rates and levies and so much more in this vein.

Being a businessman reliably ill prepares one to govern a nation and Thaksin is no exception. Running a government like a business is one of the worst agendas and intellectual cliches there is. Presuming a business person can govern successfully, effectively, is a syllogism of the first order as Thaksin (and so many others globally) repeatedly has proved.

Incidentally, I have a sneaking suspicion that T himself reads and may even contribute to this forum.

haha , i think he would have better things to do with his time :)

ha ha indeed. What sorts of things might T do during his waking hours? He probably plays golf, checks the balances on his numbered accounts in Caribbean and Europe, gets a massage and perhaps a swim at the pool at his Dubai hotel. However, for all his faults, he's not stupid, and one could imagine he'd be interested in what people in Thailand are saying about him on public forums. Granted, farang can't vote nor hold power positions, but we do constitute a % of the resident population, and if you check newspaper articles, you'll see that a significant % of articles regard tourism and/or farang issues. It wouldn't surprise me one iota if T himself read this forum from time to time, or perhaps ardently. It also wouldn't surprise me if he himself contributed. It would surprise me if some of his close associates didn't keep their ear to the grapevine, so to speak. He wants to thaw out assets and return triumphantly to Thailand, he'd be a fool not to be curious about what people are thinking and saying about him - even powerless farang on the fringes, some of whom write letters to newspapers and possibly influence the public debate.

well if Mr Thaksin is actually a member and poster of this forum most of the posters in the political threads should be banned for the serial stalking and flaming of another member.

Thaksin is a member of the forum, but just like so many other members proclaiming to be Thai, or female for that matter, I don't believe this member really is who he says he is:

The greatest troll ever on Thaivisa, ColPyat, in an extremely rare moment of honesty, accurately reflected:

"You can be anybody you want to be on the Internet."

ok, so we have established "Thaksin" is a member of the forum.

just a reminder of the rules:

1) To respect fellow members.

4) Not to flame fellow members.

Flaming will not be tolerated. 'Flaming' is defined as posting or responding to a message in a way clearly intended to incite useless arguments, to launch personal attacks, to insult, or to be hateful towards other members. This includes useless criticism, name-calling, swearing and any other comments meant to incite anger.

6) Not to post comments that could be reasonably construed as defamation or libel.

Defamation is the issuance of a false statement about another person, which causes that person to suffer harm. Libel involves the making of defamatory statements in a printed or fixed medium, such as a magazine or newspaper.

Why not?

CORRUPTION.

No proof? Only assumption?

One doesn't need to be too terribly observant or have lived here too long to understand this is a national occupation. And certainly crosses all political identities.....

He is a USER of TVF, because he tries to manipulate it using group speak through assorted proxies.

Since he has NOT seen fit or shown enough chivalry as to :

Use his own name.

Fight his own fights

Answer legitimate questions in a man to man, fair, manner,

he is only a presence here and not a TVF member.

And as a public figure, convicted criminal, fugitive and banned political figure,

he is fair game for caricature and discussion.

Many of us act as virtual equipoise versus his evil-Gepetto manipulations.
