Thaksin Admits His Divorce Was Politically Motivated

Since his LUST for power well out weighs his marriage vows of several decades standing,

what kind of good faith can Thais who DON'T personally know him have reason to expect?

Well here we have it in a nutshell.

He needs power more than his marriage, even as she has helped him for decades,

but he is deluding himself as if the marriage was not ended by his own hand.

Thaksin needs his adoring mob more than her.

He calls his self-squandered mandate reason to create a mob to grab it back.

But this is no less a barely controled mob, lacking any semblance of checks and balances.

Thomas Jefferson

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule,

where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.

"The essential principles of our Government...

form the bright constellation which has gone before us and guided our steps

through an age of revolution and reformation.

The wisdom of our sages and blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment.

They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction,

the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust;

and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm,

let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which

alone leads to peace, liberty and safety." --1st Inaugural Address, 1801.

"I know but one code of morality for man whether acting singly or collectively.

He who says I will be a rogue when I act in company with a hundred others,

but an honest man when I act alone, will be believed in the former assertion,

but not in the latter." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1789. ME 7:449, Papers 15:367

Counteracting Selfishness

"The human character, we believe, requires in general constant and immediate control

to prevent its being biased from right by the seductions of self-love."

--Thomas Jefferson to Pierre Samuel Dupont de Nemours, 1816. ME 14:489

Ego-maniacs who throw away their wives listen up!

When the Nation is Duped

"Every nation is liable to be under whatever bubble, design, or delusion

may puff up in moments when off their guard."

--Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816. ME 14:381

"Such is the moral construction of the world,

that no national crime passes unpunished in the long run...

Were your present oppressors to reflect on the same truth,

they would spare to their own countries the penalties on their present wrongs

which will be inflicted on them in future times.

Reflect on Taksin the great and the silken sack

The seeds of hatred and revenge which they [sow] with a large hand

will not fail to produce their fruits in time.

Like their brother robbers on the highway, they suppose the escape of the moment

a final escape and deem infamy and future risk countervailed by present gain."

--Thomas Jefferson to Francois de Marbois, 1817. ME 15:130

How he thinks to 'protect' the wife, by essentially shunning her publicly,

may well mirror how he would protect those others who

do not bow at the knee, and scrape in supplication.

Now, now, perpetual bad hair days should not be a reason for divorce.

Trying to save HER half the family fortune would be....

But surely we are supposed to believe, this noble former-politician laid down his life wife, for his country ? :)

Please forgive my ignorance in this respect but is this the little sh*t who was caught cheating (oops making a unintentional mistake) during an university exam? Does anybody else harbour dark thoughts re the sexuality of the person alongside him? I would rate her right up there with the awful Camilla.

I post articulate, professional and knowledgable (sp?) commentary, as opposed to this stream of inane comments from Thaksin haters. They are perceived for what they are, nothing more.

My. my. You are modest to a fault sir. You must feel really at home in amongst Thailand 'elite'. The position of Political Editor to any of the world's responsible newspapers should be yours for the asking.

Keep repeating your mantra to your mirror, or one of them. If it is brain dead as you think people here are, then maybe it will believe you.

what's the ex-wife have to say about it?

Ok, we know Chinese and Chinese-Thai have their four top priorities;

1. money, 2. assets, 3. face and 4. more money.

So any big decision such as divorce must involve those things, which T admitted they do.

No talk of love, no talk of attraction or the life-long commitment that marriage is supposed to embody.

Let's get real. The guy's a bazzilionaire, he can have just about any money grubbing gorgeous gal he can point a gold-encrusted walking stick at, so what's the mystery?

Pojamin, for her part, is also filthy rich and might have a smidgen of sensuousness left and probably wouldn't mind a sweet talking 23 yr. old Spaniard (torrerodor perchance) in her bedroom once in awhile. (she could become his senor-eator).
