Pattaya 2 U (tukcom) Closed?

PS3

Recommended Posts

Tukcom today 3pm.

Pattaya2you shop was closed, gates down and lights off.

No notice on the gate, but all their stuff still inside.

:)

The owners have gone to Bangkok for the day, some sort of political rally.

They will be open as usual tomorrow at 10.00 am.

And most vendors seem to sleep late! I prefer to do my shopping as early as possible (traffic!), and before midday the place almost looks like a ghost mall :)

Pattaya2U won't disappear anytime soon, it's one of the few shops with a very steady trade...

Not very professional to just close up shop without leaving a notice stating why. What can you expect from a bunch of cowboys?

They are probably the best shop in Tukcom...what is your assessment based upon?

You're entitled to your opinion.

I've had a number of bad experiences there and wouldn't recommend anyone take their computers there for any reason.

This forum reads like some kind of Pattaya2U admirers club, so I'm adding some balance.

Just closing up shop without any notice is a bad sign just for starters. Very 'cowboyish' wouldn't you say?

My PC stopped booting up recently - couldn't get it to work no matter what i tried. Took it back to where I bought it - JIB Computers who took one look at it and told me I needed to re-install Windows - "No choice. Must re-install. Cannot save your files". Of course like an idiot I hadn't backed up any of my my work so was rather disturbed by this plan. Anyway, phoned a friend who suggested I try Pattaya 2 U and sure enough the guy fixed it, didn't need to re-install Windows, didn't lose my work and it cost me 300 Baht.

For that reason alone I like this shop - unprofessional or not. My advice would be to stay away from JIB for repairs, even though repairs are free if u bought ur PC there.

My laptop wouldn't boot several months back. I took it to Liberty and found my hard drive was fried (which was obvious anyway). They installed a new hard drive and by cloning my old one managed to save all my data.

A new hard drive and the labour costs came to more than 300 baht, but I was very happy.

How they clone a fried harddrive?Sounds like it wasn't fried at all.I heard that there are specialised company's who can save the data from a damaged drive but it is very expensive.

You took my adjective too literally. My hard drive didn't burn up in flames or smoke.

You can use any adjective you like, but the hard drive was damaged and it had been on its way out for quite a long time. You can clone a damaged hard drive and they did. I left the details of how they actually do it up to the repair shop, but my computer has never been so healthy.

Not so cowboyish, very Thai, however, more than likely they will have let their neighbours know. :)

Another Pattaya2U fan to the rescue...

Don't start getting paranoid now Tropo, there is no conspiricy, I wouldn't even have a clue where Pattaya2U is! :)

Pattaya2U have a huge fan club on this forum. Saying something negative about them is not tolerated.

Pattaya2U are probably ok, they have lots of happy customers - but there are other companies that are just as good IMO, JIB and Banana. I genereally shop around and buy each bit where I can get the right brand at the right price. Just stay clear from Hardware House, their cashier seems to be on permanent PMS :)

Not only that if you do need an exchange of a defective part they will try to burn you on the come back later scam & your warranty mysteriously goes on the waited to many days for return or replacement even though they know you were in 2-3 times within the warranty period. Yes the girl has a very severe case of women problems there. I think her name is the Dragon Lady!

If you're talking about the Hardware House near Pattaya2U, then I can say I've had great warranty service from them. I returned a DVD burner at 11 months and got a brand new one in just a few days.

It can happen anywhere that staff can take a disliking to certain people for various reasons. I've found that Thais cannot easily hide their disdain for people they don't like even in the name of business. I'd give her the benefit of the doubt and bet you gave her a really hard time on one of your visits.

Naw this one was pretty straight forward. A friend bought a Soloman Edge (defective hardware) They promised a new one to him & it never made it from Bangkok. He had 30 days to return for an exchange. He then had to go back to England to work on an oil platform & gave me the unit to return & keep the new one. he had 2 others that worked.

they tried to trick me into believing they were online via modem but when I asked them to turn off their airport to the broadband they use . the unit flat lined. They went online & got the protocols from Solomon. got home dead again. went back 30th day & they supposedly did some trick that still didn,t work. Went to JB & Pattaya2u both said it was dead on the 31st day. Out of warranty they said I told them <deleted> & the manager reluctantly gave me a Vodaphone dongle that worked. I wouldn't say they are the most respectable business in the center . I guess being from the west you expect a guaranty to be real. At least their are better options out there. And at least they did switch the unit out as promised -but it was like extracting a wisdom tooth. Great way to win business. I did use them for 25000 baht worth of components in 2004 & luckily didn't have any problems. 6 visits for 1 problem 3 from me 3 from Colin.
