Would like to imply to my wife that her grandmother is making a De legitimization of her (my wife) as a mother when she (the grandmother) is speaking with our 7 year old when my wife is not around.

Any ideas?

you normally communicate in thai with her, right? then rather than focusing on a single abstract word, I'd suggest thinking about how you could make this point in very simple terms in English and then a translation will probably be easy for you. think laterally.

eg. sometimes your grandmother says things to our daughter that might make our daughter think XYZ...

by the way, there could well be a cultural difference at the heart of your discomfort. of course, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk about it.
