PHUKET - IIn an appalling act of cruelty in Rawai, Phuket, a foreign resident has allegedly buried a dog alive, with only its head left above ground. The incident, which took place in Soi Suksan 1, has sparked widespread outrage across social media.

The discovery was initially reported on 16th July 2568 by the Phuket Times Facebook page, showing a video of the desperate animal buried, appearing weak and barely conscious. The caption questioned the mentality behind such cruelty, labelling the act as the work of a "deranged foreigner."

Local municipal officials, aided by concerned residents, quickly intervened to rescue the exhausted dog. They have since coordinated with the Soi Dog Foundation to ensure that the dog receives necessary medical attention and care.

An investigation revealed that a foreign national living in the area was allegedly responsible. Evidence has been gathered, and legal action is being pursued to hold the individual accountable for this barbaric act.

The online community has reacted with intense condemnation, including comments that describe the act as "heartless" and "vicious." People have expressed deep sympathy for the dog and expressed relief at its timely rescue.

The rescued dog is currently in the temporary care of the Soi Dog Foundation, while authorities continue to investigate and take legal action against the accused.

This distressing event serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities pet owners have and the need for vigilance in preventing animal cruelty.

People seem to forget that Thai eat dogs too.

Maybe some pictures of trucks full of dogs in cages ready to

go to Laos to get savagely butchered.

Yes what this guy did was awful , but pot and kettle .

Disgusting act of cruelty.

Jail him.

Or alternatively let him experience the same, but with only his feet above the ground.

The past few months it seems that misdeeds of foreigners are in the headlines every day.

Hang that scumbag (=owner)

Jail him for XX years, fine him XXX,000 Baht, then deport and blacklist him. It's tempting to add, "Bury him leaving his head exposed, and then make the area around his face a place that attracts dogs to xxxx on him.", but I wouldn't dream of saying this.

So it is still alive? Jesus, who does this sort of thing? What do they charge? There are a few feral hounds around me that would look good in cement. - Nah, that is just sick and twisted. Not very pleasant people really, is this the tourists Thailand is attracting?

I don't really care what nationality, this foreigner should have his visa revoked and fined or jailed, then deported IMHO!

Charge him with cruelty to animals, arrest him, try him, if found guilty, put him in jail for about 6 months, and then deport him.😡

I wonder what the rationale behind this was? Killing the dog doesn't make sense as if that was the reason you would just totally bury the poor animal. Also having looked at the short a couple of time the soil over the dog doesn't seem to be compacted that much. You can see it move when the dog's yelping. It's all rather odd. Just a guess but maybe some bizarre old fashioned way to deal with a flea infestation? I also find it a bit strange that someone already has their phone camera going before the discovery.

Edit. Later article below shows the rationale.

"The foreign owner told authorities the dog was expected to die within three days due to severe illness, claiming it showed no vital signs before burial. However, the authorities remain sceptical and have charged him under Thailand's 2014 Animal Welfare Act."

I hate, detest, loathe dogs - extremely bad experience as a youth - but if this guy really did this then he needs to have his nuts crushed.

It's simply cruel. There was forethought and more than a casual effort to make this happen. Disgusting behavior!

A heart-wrenching video has emerged showing a Siberian Husky being buried alive in Rawai, Phuket. Fortunately, a foreign hero arrived just in time to rescue the dog. The property's owner, also a foreign national, faces animal cruelty charges after claiming the dog was critically ill with no pulse.

On 17th July, the well-known environmental Facebook page, "Monsoon Garbage," shared the distressing footage. It depicted a man rescuing the buried dog, while others lay languishing nearby.

Following the incident, Rawai’s Mayor, Thames Kraitat, along with police and the Soi Dog Foundation, intervened. They discovered several exhausted dogs at the residence and transferred three to the foundation for rehabilitation and eventual rehoming.

The foreign owner told authorities the dog was expected to die within three days due to severe illness, claiming it showed no vital signs before burial. However, the authorities remain sceptical and have charged him under Thailand's 2014 Animal Welfare Act.

Definitely the poor guy has criminal mental issues. At least the dog is alive and barking.
