Recommended Posts

Would anyone be able to tell me how to go about getting an export visa for Thailand, and what type of visa is required to buy goods in Thailand and export to Europe on a commercial basis ? Currently l have a 1 year educational visa for studying Thai. Many thanks Mark.

There is no such thing as an export visa!

Without a registered company/partnership you won't be able to obtain an export license.

Find a good shipping agent who can export the goods on your behalf but the documentation will be in the name of the agent.

Tourists for example can't officially export goods but they hire an agent to send all the goods they purchased here to their home country and all is well.

Look in the yellow pages and contact various agents to see what services they offer.

Thanks for the info, lm aware there is no export visa, what l meant was do you need a non B with work permit before you could get a licence, but you have more than answered my question thankyou. l exported to the UK for 6 years without one, the freight company in Bangkok would say to me ' you know you need an export licence ' and then send the goods anyway. Now lm trying to do everything the correct way because l have'nt sent anything to Europe for 2 years. Thankyou for the information.

I think it depends very much on what type of goods you are sending.

The EU has recently tightened their import regulations for a variety of goods and a third party (shipping agent) may no longer be able to sent the goods on your behalf. Talk to your agent!

It is possible to export with any type of visa, we have many customers who are foreign nationals who export under their personal name (no company). Some of them have only been on a tourist visa.

Another alternative is to have the manufacturer "export" to free zone warehouse where the ownership of goods can be changed to you. Your name can then be used as the shipper on all of the shipping documents regardless of your status in Thailand.

We do this for some of our customers who are trading companies located outside of Thailand. They have the goods manufactured in Thailand, and sell to their customers overseas. They obviously do not want their customer and the factory to know each other.

An example:

US company sells goods manufactured in Thailand to customer in Dubai. Manufacturer "exports" goods to our freezone warehouse. Ownership is transferred to US Company. US company issues invoice and goods are transferred to Airport. Shipper on the HAWB is US company C/O "Freight Forwarder".

No problem.

Also if needed, under the above arrangement it is also possible to get a Certificate of Origin under your foreign company's name C/O "Freight Forwarder" if the manufacturer is willing to write a letter authorizing you do do so under their "specs".

Once you get things rolling if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM
