Its also pleasing to hear they were both released. They sound like a lovely romantic couple letting loose on a holiday. I am sure they came here for more freedom and a wild holiday but they were simply misinformed. Who can blame them for thinking Pattaya is a place for libertine behavior? Imagine how they would have been treated under Sharia Islamic Law in Iran?? ... the lady always seem to bear the brunt of the alleged 'crime.' Believe it or not, there are 'exhibitionists' who get off on such public play! Might be a good idea for a new type of bar or club? One missing link is the couple comes from a religious and utterly supreme group of this planet (this is their opinion of themselves compared to the rest of us infidels) - thus - they stray from home turf and act this way defying their own rigid religious laws - however - that area of the world will not allow religious freedom nor will they allow for open travel for all countries such as they have been given to travel here to Thailand. I hope their names and this obsurd act will follow them back to Iran where they will be stoned in the public square for their actions. I myself am not afraid to have sex on jomtien beach at 0430 in the morning and have a 500 baht each fine. Now let me go to Iran and have public sex and lets see what happens. Might cause big problems for the 2. 3. I do understand there's a kick to have sex on the beach ; thought about this myself but i'm aware that sex in public is charged in many countries. @ siamjimi: why have to be stoned for death????? Just because the state is highly religious and has strict religious laws doesn't mean they are strict believers. Since when are we subject to the laws of our 'home' country and the laws of the country we are visiting? I personaly hope nothing happens to them back home. It would seem likely this couple weren't too hung up on it at the time either. But to rejoice in any possibility of them being severely punished or even stoned to death for a very minor crime - well that sounds positively Islamic to me... Like all the other crimes committed in the name of religion. Careful you don't become what you seem to despise. We mock people like this when they can't leave their ridiculously oppressive conservative "values" at home, and also we mock them when they do? These guys screwed up, they've been punished and humiliated - I hope that is the end of it, and they perhaps take a message of tolerance home with them. It's looking unlikely though. Now I would have sex with my wife on a beach, I think it's daring and romantic, but there's no way my wife would be willing if she thought someone could be watching, and I say well done to whoever has done it and got away with it, it's even worth the 500bt for the kicks and memories, but muslims - how dare they call us disgusting pigs, don't we remember how they behaved on Bondi beach 2yrs back - running up and hitting women who ventured out in a bikini. (Oh wait, it wasn't a motorbike accident or theft). Note: Persians are of a different ethnic group than Arabs. They are very well educated and have a rich history which dates back before the Roman Empire. True, their government is very conservative, but most Iranians, I know, do not support the garbage that is going on in Iran. Maybe Ahmadinejad will put Thailand on the 'Blacklist" Human Nature with a hint of bravado? When I work in K Saudi Arabia,my students regularly spend their weekends extending their libido (casino,vodka and those wonderful East European ladies) in Dubai, Bahrain, etc. Then these same Libertines return to KSA and resume their prayers & more 'conservative' existence - praying 5 and 10 times daily between Sat and Wed). Considering the oft inhumane punishments meted out (was every Fri on Channel ** in KSA from amputa...tion to exe...cution in public), I am hardly surprised that a Pattaya beach would seem the perfect place to expend some harmless energy..
