My wife was recently involved in a road traffic accident here in Thailand, she has a broken Femur and the doctor said she won't be able to walk fully, un-aided for nine months, nice !!! Not really because we supposed to be submitting a application for settlement at VFS early 2010. Would this effect her application in any way, would VFS refuse to take her application if they see, which they obviously will as she will be on crutches.

There is nothing in the UK immigration rules to bar a disabled person from applying, whether their disability is permanent or temporary. Indeed, discriminating against someone who is disabled, permanently or temporarily, is illegal in the UK!

Just be aware that she will not be able to claim any form of incapacity benefit once she is in the UK, though as she will be coming on a settlement visa she will be entitled to NHS treatment.

Thank you 7by7 for the information, appreciated.

I looked at the VFS website, and the more update HO UK Border Agency visa information website and both don't appear to quote, nor discriminate for what is classed as a temporary disability. And, no health questions in application VAF4A (settlement).

Should not be a problem with TB Test, and Biometric enrolment on application.

And aware of the no recource to public funds in relation to some benefits, including incapacity.

Absolutely no problem in applying for a settlement visa.
