Most countries in the world get an automatic 30 tourist visa if they have a pre paid ticket home here in Thailand

Does any one know if this applies to tourist's from Russia?

Not true. Β Only 40 selected countries enjoy 30-day visa free entry to Thailand. Β Russia is not one of them. Β However, they can apply for a 15 day visa after arrival at port of entry. Β Following is airline IATA information:

Passport (must be valid 6 months beyond visa application)

and visa required.

Visa can be obtained on arrival (ONLY at Bangkok, Chiang Mai,

Hat Yai, Phuket, Samui Int'l Airport and Utapao airports) for a

stay of max. 15 days (extension up to 10 days possible, fee THB

500.-, 1 photo required) provided:

- coming for touristic purposes; and

- holding onward/return ticket; and

- holding USD 250.- per person or USD 500.- per family.

Submit the application form completed in English only with the

fee and 1 passport photo (size 4 x 6 cm.). Passport

photo facilities only available at Bangkok Int'l Airport.

Visa on arrival fee: THB 1,000.- (to be paid in local

currency). Passport photo fee: THB 170.- per photo.

Passenger must clear Customs and Immigration Quarantine (CIQ)

immediately at the point where visa is obtained.

Otherwise passenger must reapply for a visa against repayment

of visa fee at the point of final destination.

If holding APEC Business Travel Card together with passport:

visa not required.

Entry may be refused if of "hippy" appearance.

Airline staff may travel on standby ticket together with an

airline-identity card.

Visitor must hold all documents for next destination.

If being over 12 years of age visitor must also hold

sufficient funds (e.g. letter of credit, vouchers, MCOs

or well-known credit cards) to cover period of stay (not

applicable if holding re-entry visa).

Non-compliance with the visa regulations will result in:

- refusal and immediate deportation of passenger;

- fines for the airline of THB 20,000,-;

- overstay fine for passenger of THB 200,- per day.

As ever Lop, a mine of information. It was proposed that all Ruski's had to get a visa before entry, but some diplomatic dealings got that 15 day visa on arrival agreed to at the last minute at the end of 2002.
