Now I am not posting that on my behalf but a friend of mine has had a work permit for a long time

he works as a english teacher in a university and he quit his job (as he told me today)

So what happen to his work permit will it be cancelled as well and if that happens will he be without a

visa? What are the problems he is facing?

If he was on an extension of stay for work he must immediately leave the country or apply for a 7 day extension of stay. Extension of stay for work ends the day work ends. If he is on a 90 day visa entry it will have no effect and he can continue to stay on it. The work permit should probably be returned but different offices seems to handle differently. But the work permit does not allow him to stay here if he is on an extension of stay for work and work ends.

It depends on hwat kind of extension of stay he is and if he is indeed on an extension of stay.

If he gets a yearly extension of stay based on his job, he has to leave the country the same day his job ends or go to immigration to get a 7 day extension.

His work permit is also cancelled, as that is tied to his job. if he finds a new job he will have to get a new WP.

Sorry I can not give you an answer to that, all I know he has been in Thailand for 10 years he has worked for a university 2 years and hes' contract goes to end of june next year so I don't know if that is an extension of stay but he deceided to quit now I will ask him for more information and come back to you guys

If he was on extension of stay, he is now on overstay ...
