To mark the Supreme Patriarch's 96th birthday on October 3, His Majesty the King has instructed that 5,000 books and CDs of teachings by His Holiness be distributed to libraries and schools, said Deputy Royal Secretary Than Phuying Bootree Viravaidhaya, yesterday.

HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is marking the occasion by initiating a project to publish the book "Lord Buddha's 45 years" by His Holiness.

Gifts from Their Majesties the King and Queen will be presented to His Holiness, who is currently receiving treatment at Chulalongkorn Hospital, on October 3.
