LazyYogi
I'm an American with a Thai wife, currently both working in Japan. We plan to return to Thailand to start a business in the near future. My wife will be managing the business. I will be getting a non-O multiple entry visa from a consulate in the USA (I'm assuming that is relatively easy with our marrige certificate and a bank statement). I will not be working in the business and don't need to get a work permit. My understanding is that we can save money and some hassle by setting the company up as either a sole proprietorship in my wife's name or as a partnership between the two of us with her as the majority owner instead of doing a Thai limited company. My question is what are the advantages or disadvatages between setting up as a proprietorship and either a general partnership or a Thai limited partnership?
