Extension Of Non-o-visa, Based On Marriage With A Child

Featured Replies

Next week my yearly extension is going to happen !

I am officially married and have a child with my wife. The last several years we got an extension based on my wife's income only ! Also I work, have a work permit ,we never metioned it at the immigratin and they never asked !

Can we do it this year again or did the rules change !

Thanks for the replies in advance !

You can apply every year. Now it has to be your income or savings. Not your Wife's.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Also we have a child ? I just read the new regulation . I think it can be my wife's or mine or our income !!

But maybe I am wrong !

Last year we did not need to show the 400,000 in the bank... we just had to show a combined earnings of 40,000 per month. This year we went back to do the same thing without any luck. We had all the same documentation plus more and they said that the rules had changed. They don't care about your monthly combined income and only wanted to see 400,000 in the bank undisturbed. This was in Phuket immigration May 2009.

If you have a Thai Wife they will process you as extending based on marriage.

This has been discussed many times.

The child extension is for parents who do not qualify under marriage.

I went there with my Thai wife and all supporting documentation and asked them about the 40,000 per month... that was what I was counting on.... they only wanted to see 400,000.

For extension based on a Thai Wife you need 40,000 Baht a month OR 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank.
