Another question if I may?....

My mother in law was granted a family visit visa in May 2009 valid for 6 months.

Due to the ill health of her eldest daughter, my wifes sister, who had cancer and has very recently died from this she didn't use the visa and cancelled her flight etc. and didn't travel due to her daughter having learning difficulties and needing attention 24/7.

My question, Is there a way of applying to the British Embassy, via VFS or not, for an extension of this visa due to these circumstances?

What I dont really want to do is provide all of the evidence again and go through the whole process if I can help it. I am happy to pay a further fee for them to consider this and provide evidence of the death of the daughter etc.

My mother in law has still not collected her passport fron VFS in BKK since May 2009 due to this illness taking priority so the passpost and unused visa is still there.

Any comments/thougts?

Thank you

That she did not use the visa is no fault of the embassy, so as I said in this thread she will need to apply again.

If her passport and all the previous evidence is still at the VAC she can use that evidence, but you should update things like bank statements etc.

I would check with the VAC, though, to make sure that they still have it all.

Remember the letter saying why she did not use the current visa.

Please do not start a new thread every time you have a follow up question; it makes it confusing and hard to follow!

OK, Thx

All the papers should still be there so she can just add further bank statements showing she has more money in the bank and maybe the death certificate and a letter explaining the circumstances.

I emailed VFS and await a reply from them.

Not their fault agreed, but not her fault either as cancer is a terrible thing and maybe the Embassy will look on this factor as totally out of her control as compared with someone changing their mind and just wanting to alter the visa.
