Hi there

I am trying to obtain a Student visa for my fiance who lives in Chiang Mai , Thailand of whom i have known for 2 years, i currently am a working student in the UK , with a part time job and in my second year or University.

The College in which she wishes to study has offered a full time EFL English learning course , and a visa certificate showing this , coming into affect in september 2010.

Will it be possible to use my parents as sponsors for accomdation , as i have fairly large savings to pay for tuition fees and living expenses , would this be acceptable for accomdation?

Also for reason for return to native country would it be suffice that she has a house and several large plots of land under name , a return ticket , and a completion of course certificate.

With perhaps a view to changing the visa providing all goes well...but thats another topic

Any advise on the requirments of what is needed to complete this application and accomodation and sponsor advice would be warmly appriecated ....many thanks

I would imagine it will be fine to use your parents as sponsors.

You can't change a student visa to another visa within the UK unless she gets a job offer from a company willing to sponsor a work visa. You certainly won't be able to suddenly change it to a settlement visa or similar without her returning to Thailand and applying in BKK.

Hi, thanks for the reply charlie , very usefull , do my parents have to provide certain legal documents to support this sponsorship ? eg...are property deeds etc needed.

Also can more than one sponsor strengthen the application...eg my parents sponsoring the accomodation ..me the finanical side ... if indeed more than one sponsor is allowed???

They'll have to provide some kind of proof that it is their home and they are in a position to make the offer. A description of the building and where she would be able to stay (does she have her own bedroom etc.), so proof of this would be required. Basically you'll have to show evidence that it's not just a one bedroom flat with no room for her.

If you are sponsoring her finanically then you'll have to provide proof of your savings or income. It would be wise also to give them some history of your relationship with her so they can evaluate whether all this support is genuine. There is more likelihood of them being satisfied with your offer of support if they can see you have known her for some time and have a long-term relationship rather with her than you met her last week.

In judging a student's intention to return on completion of the course, a factor considered by the ECO is the relevance of the proposed course to the applicant's future career in their own country, and the availability of tuition in their own country. There are lots of English courses in Thailand.
